Fractured Reservoir Modeling

1st EAGE North African/Mediterranean Petroleum & Geosciences Conference & Exhibition, 2003
T035 FRACTURED RESERVOIR MODELING Introduction 1 A fractured reservoir analysis pointed out some major problems as: fracture porosity evaluation matrix block size matrix-fracture exchange factor and the equivalent permeability evaluation. Moreover interaction between fractures at different scale is another critical aspect for production in fractured ...

Fracturing Carbonate Reservoirs: Acidising Fracturing or Fracturing with Proppants?

SPE Asia Pacific Hydraulic Fracturing Conference, 2016
Abstract Carbonate reservoir with low permeability is developed using fracturing technology to effectively stimulate the reservoir for a higher productivity. However, as the carbonate reservoir features extreme heterogeneity, not every fracture is created equally as is obtainable through acidizing fracturing or using proppant.

Integrated Reservoir Characterisation of a Fractured Carbonate Reservoir

Proceedings of SPE International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition in Mexico, 2000
Abstract One of the most important issues for the characterisation of a reservoir and the assessment of the fluid flow behaviour is the role of faults, fractures, and micro-fractures. At different scales these reservoir features have a tremendous impact on the reservoir drainage and in the overall productivity of the field1.

Fractured-Basement Reservoirs

2021
Fractured-basement reservoirs are igneous or metamorphic rocks having no matrix porosity and low secondary fracture porosity of ~2–3% and generally are devoid of adequate void space to hold sufficient volume of hydrocarbons for economic production.

Reservoir Characterization of Fractured Cambrian Reservoirs, Algeria

SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2005
Abstract It has long been recognized that the faults in the Hassi Messaoud field are necessary for the successful production from the Cambrian sandstone reservoirs. What is less understood is the dual nature of these faults in that they can both control transmissibility through permeability enhancing fractures, and control trapping ...

Integrated reservoir characterization of a fractured basement reservoir

The Leading Edge, 2011
It is a considerable challenge to effectively develop hetero-geneous fractured reservoirs in complex structural settings. Here we present a case study of a fractured basement reservoir hosted in structural highs formed by fault-controlled blocks in a rift setting. A wide range of data were available to study the current reservoir.

Reservoir Fracture Characterization and Modeling in a Shuaiba Reservoir

International Petroleum Technology Conference, 2014
Abstract Massive mud losses, well logging, seismic data together with observed conformance issues and significant variation in well performance suggest a well developed fracture system in a regional Shuaiba reservoir.

Naturally Fractured Reservoirs

2019
Currently, there are numerous of authors defined the fracture from a different perspective, However, from the geo-mechanical viewpoint; a fracture is defined as a surface in which a loss of solidity has taken place.

Qualifying Hydraulic Fracturing Effectiveness in Tight, Naturally Fractured Reservoirs by Combining Three-Dimensional Fracturing and Reservoir Simulators

Proceedings of SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 1998
AbstractHydraulic fracturing in tight, naturally fractured reservoirs is a difficult process and qualifying effectiveness in such an environment is complicated. Through evaluation of naturally fractured shale and naturally fractured sandstone case studies, we will show how hydraulic fracturing effectiveness in naturally fractured reservoirs can be ...

Properties of Homogeneous Reservoirs, Naturally Fractured Reservoirs, and Hydraulically Fractured Reservoirs From Decline Curve Analysis

Proceedings of Permian Basin Oil and Gas Recovery Conference, 1986
ABSTRACT This paper proposes analysis techniques for post-transient, flow at constant bottomhole pressure. Rate-time decline curves approximate this flow regime. Reservoir characteristics for homogeneous reservoirs, vertically-fractured reservoirs, and naturally-fractured reservoirs can be obtained using these techniques.
