Properties of Homogeneous Reservoirs, Naturally Fractured Reservoirs, and Hydraulically Fractured Reservoirs From Decline Curve Analysis

Proceedings of Permian Basin Oil and Gas Recovery Conference, 1986
ABSTRACT This paper proposes analysis techniques for post-transient, flow at constant bottomhole pressure. Rate-time decline curves approximate this flow regime. Reservoir characteristics for homogeneous reservoirs, vertically-fractured reservoirs, and naturally-fractured reservoirs can be obtained using these techniques.

Fractured Reservoir Modeling: Effects of Hydraulic Fracture Geometries in Tight Oil Reservoirs

SPE/EAGE European Unconventional Resources Conference and Exhibition, 2014
Abstract Tight oil production is emerging as an important new source of energy supply and has reversed a decline in U.S. crude oil production and Western Canadian light oil production. At present, combination of the multistage hydraulic fracturing and horizontal wells has become a widely used technology in stimulating tight oil ...

Fractured-Porous Reservoir

2016
This chapter considers solutions for pumping tests in different types of fractured–porous media (Moench solutions) and in aquifers where the pumping well crosses a single vertical or horizontal fracture (fissure) of a finite size.

Fractured Reservoir Analysis

2001
Fractured reservoirs are among the most prolific reservoirs in the world because of the fractures’ ability to sustain very high flow rates. Examples where fracturing provides the primary production mechanism include the Tertiary Asmari formation in the fields of Southwest Iran (Lees, 1933; also Levorsen, 1967), the Maastrichtian/Danian chalks of the ...

Reservoir Characterization Of Fractured Reservoirs In Western Canada

Annual Technical Meeting, 1997
Abstract The author has worked on a number of fractured reservoirs in Western Canada, which show a number of common characteristics. Evaluating this type of pool is normally very complex and presents a number of difficulties. Production performance is discussed. They also exhibit distinct types of pressure transient
