Fixation of displaced subcapital femoral fractures. Compression screw fixation versus double divergent pins

open access: yes, 1988
One hundred and twenty-seven consecutive patients with displaced subcapital fractures of the femoral neck (Garden Grade III or IV) all under 80 years of age and independently mobile, were randomly allocated to fixation with either double divergent pins ...

Dynamic compression nail: A preliminary report

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2001
Background Interlocking nailing, which has become the method of choice for treating fractures of the femoral and tibial shafts, still lacks ability to provide the important contact-compression at the fracture.

Effects of percutaneous vertebroplasty on respiratory parameters in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures

open access: yesAnnals of Medicine, 2022
Background: Vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) often occur in patients with osteoporosis. These fractures can also lead to postural changes. Several studies have shown that patients with vertebral compression fractures have a restrictive pattern in ...

Experimental investigations of spontaneous bimaterial interfacial fractures

open access: yes, 2008
Following our innovative experimental spontaneous fracture models for frictional fractures (compression and shear) and mixed-mode fractures (tension and shear) in identical materials, we designed a laboratory model to investigate the effects of material ...

Ofatumumab in Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody–Associated Disease: A Comparison With Rituximab

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of ofatumumab in patients with myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody–associated disease (MOGAD), and compare it with rituximab. Methods We conducted a single–center, observational study including 22 MOGAD patients treated with ofatumumab and 21 treated with rituximab.

Bisphosphonates Treatment in Metastatic Prostate Cancer

open access: yes, 2005
The skeleton is the third most common site for cancer to spread after the liver and lungs. Malignancies that can cause destruction of skeletal bones include multiple myeloma and metastatic diseases of the lung, prostate and other solid cancers.

Early Clinical, Imaging, and Pathological Characteristics of SRPK3/TTN‐Digenic Myopathy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy was recently established as a skeletal muscle myopathy caused by digenic inheritance. This study characterizes the early clinical presentation of SRPK3/TTN‐digenic myopathy in one previously reported and seven newly identified pediatric patients.

Failure Mode of the Water-filled Fractures under Hydraulic Pressure in Karst Tunnels

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2017
Water-filled fractures continue to grow after the excavation of karst tunnels, and the hydraulic pressure in these fractures changes along with such growth.

Biomechanics of thoracolumbar junction vertebral fractures from various kinematic conditions

open access: yes, 2013
Thoracolumbar spine fracture classifications are mainly based on a post-traumatic observation of fracture patterns, which is not sufficient to provide a full understanding of spinal fracture mechanisms.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.
