Malunited forearm fractures in children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
A malunion occurs when a fracture heals in a non-anatomical position. Fractures in growing children possess a capacity for remodeling and will correct angular deformity in time. Thus, a distal forearm fracture with some degree of displacement or angulation can be safely accepted in the expectance that remodeling will occur.

Malunited fractures of the forearm in children

open access: yesThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1982
Malunion of fractures of the forearm in children can lead to permanent disability. The capacity of the radius and ulna to remodel spontaneously after malunion has been assessed in this study. Forty-nine children who had malunited fractures of the forearm were examined when the remodelling process was complete. It was noted that fractures of the distal

Treatment of malunited fractures of the anterior tibial spine

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2003
AbstractAvulsion fractures of the anterior tibial spine are uncommon injuries, and most often seen in childhood. They can be associated with other intraarticular lesions and have, if adequately treated, a good long‐term prognosis. In adults these fractures can be complicated by loss of knee extension because of the displacement of the bony fragment ...

THE TREATMENT OF MALUNITED ANTERIOR MONTEGGIA FRACTURES IN CHILDREN

open access: yesThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 1965
1. Six cases of malunited anterior Monteggia fracture have been treated, five of them successfully, by open reduction and reconstruction of the orbicular ligament by turning down a slip from the triceps tendon. 2. One relapse occurred after a slight injury; this was because of an unsuitable triceps tendon. 3.
