Osteosynthesis with Arthroscopy of a Nonunited Tibial Anterior Cruciate Ligament Avulsion Fracture 30 Years after Injury

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
There are a few reports on the treatment of nonunited tibial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) avulsion fractures. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a case of nonunited tibial ACL avulsion fracture 30 years after injury. A 36‐year‐old woman injured her knee during a road traffic accident 30 years ago.

The Effect of Vitamin D Supplementation for Bone Healing in Fracture Patients: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAdvances in Orthopedics, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
While most literature on vitamin D supplementation in fracture patients focuses on fracture prevention, the effect of vitamin D on bone healing is a much less studied concept. The primary aim of this systematic review was to assess whether vitamin D supplementation in fracture patients improves clinical or radiological union complications.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Promotes Bone Anabolism in Postmenopausal Osteoporosis through the miR‐6976/BMP/Smad4 Axis

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Background. Insufficient bone formation is the key reason for the imbalance of bone metabolism and one of the main mechanisms for the occurrence and deterioration of postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP). Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF), as a physiotherapy, can treat osteoporosis by promoting osteogenic ...

Treatment of midshaft clavicular delayed and non-unions with anteroinferior locking compression plating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
INTRODUCTION: Pain and impaired shoulder function are the predominant symptoms of midshaft clavicle non-unions. Obtaining consolidation and improvement of shoulder function is often successfully achieved with osteosynthesis and bone grafting.

Ununited fractures of the clavicle. [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1983
We reviewed the cases of thirty-three patients with non-union of a clavicular fracture. The patients who seemed to have a predilection to non-union were seven who had sustained a refracture and twenty-one who had had severe trauma. Eleven patients had an atrophic non-union, and these lesions were less symptomatic than the hypertrophic non-unions in the

Fixation failure in an isolated tibial eminence ACL traction avulsion fracture in a paratrooper: is there an association with vitamin D deficiency? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Tibial eminence avulsion fracture at the ACL footprint may be caused by high-energy forces such as a fall, in which the ACL ligament proves stronger than the forces that hold the bone together.
