Scaphoid Fracture as a “Puncherʼs Fracture”

Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, 1994
We investigated 18 scaphoid fractures induced by punching. The wrist position while punching was neutral to slight palmar flexion. We postulated that the mechanism of the fracture was caused by the concentration of the external force to the second metacarpus.

Bennett’s Fracture

Journal of Hand Surgery, 1990
The relationship between the quality of redaction and the occurrence of arthritic changes, symptoms and disability was studied in 41 Bennett’s fractures. Excellent position was obtained in five of nine fractures treated by closed reduction and plaster immobilisation, in four of six fractures treated by percutaneous K wire fixation and in 18 of 26 ...

The Hoffa fracture - a fracture not to miss

Emergency Medicine Journal, 2010
The Hoffa fracture is a rare unicondylar fracture of the lower femur that occurs in the coronal plane. The nature of the fracture pattern makes it both radiologically and clinically difficult to diagnose. The mechanism of injury is usually high energy, often associated with multiple injuries and so can easily be overlooked.
