Molecular Analysis of Fragile X Syndrome

Current Protocols in Human Genetics, 2003
AbstractThe gene responsible for fragile X syndrome, fragile X mental retardation‐1 (FMR1), contains an unstable repeat sequence of (CGG)n. Additionally, an upstream promoter region of the gene—a CpG island—is abnormally methylated in most affected individuals.

Recurrent Fragility Fractures: A Cross-sectional Analysis

Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2019
Introduction: Despite growing rates of fragility fractures, there has been a lack of research investigating the risk and characteristics of recurrent fragility fractures. Methods: The Medicare Standard Analytic Files database was used to identify patients from 2005 to 2009 who were ...

Fragile site (16) (q22)

Human Genetics, 1992
The rare autosomal fragile site, fra (16) (q22), is the most common of all rare autosomal fragile sites and has a heterozygote frequency of about 5%. Evidence for it was found following the segregation expected from a simple codominant trait with complete penetrance; this is in contrast to a variety of other rare autosomal fragile sites.

Seismic Fragility of Multispan Simply Supported Steel Highway Bridges in New York State. II: Fragility Analysis, Fragility Curves, and Fragility Surfaces

Journal of Bridge Engineering, 2010
This paper presents the seismic fragility analysis of a typical multispan simply supported steel bridge in New York State. A detailed description of the bridge model including an analysis of parameter uncertainties was provided in the companion paper.

FRAGILITY IN DAIRY PRODUCT DEMAND ANALYSIS

1999
Several reasons justify the expectation of increasingly price elastic demand for dairy products. Using weekly scanner data, we find support for this hypotheses, but with wide variation in elasticity estimates across model specifications. The results demonstrate the need for more routine specification testing before basing recommendations on potentially

Seismic fragility analysis of 3D structures

Structural Safety, 2004
A statistical approach for time-variant system reliability problems is developed and investigated. The basic proposal is to use a response surface, characterised by a statistical model of the mixed type, to represent the capacity in an analytical limit-state function.

Fragility Analysis of Staggered Wall Structures

Journal of the Computational Structural Engineering Institute of Korea, 2012
Fragility curves show the probability of a system reaching a limit state as a function of some measure of seismic intensity. To obtain fragility curves of six and twelve story staggered wall structures with middle corridor, incremental dynamic analyses were carried out using twenty two pairs of earthquake records, and their failure probabilities for ...

Fragility analysis using vibration energy harvesters

The European Physical Journal Special Topics, 2019
Fragility curves are widely used as indicators of vulnerability of infrastructure to structural/performance demands posed on it by the environment. Fragility of a structure may change due to variety of factors during its lifetime. This renders the applicability of fragility for risk assessment to be reliant on periodically updated estimation ...

Fragility analysis of flat-slab structures

Engineering Structures, 2004
Flat-slab RC buildings exhibit several advantages over conventional moment-resisting frames. However, the structural effectiveness of flat-slab construction is hindered by its alleged inferior performance under earthquake loading. Although flat-slab systems are widely used in earthquake prone regions of the world, fragility curves for this type of ...

Fragility Analysis of Concrete Gravity Dams

Journal of Infrastructure Systems, 2001
Concrete gravity dams are an important part of the nation's infrastructure. Many dams have been in service for decades. During the service life of a dam, operating conditions and natural environmental factors may have led to some deterioration in its structural integrity, mechanical equipment, and foundation.
