Fragility analysis of transportation networks

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
This paper describes a method of evaluating seismic system performance of transportation network. The results are shown to demonstrate post-earthquake traffic behavior in animation. This will assist emergency response professionals to gain pre-event insight for developing optimal emergency response strategy.

The Detection and Analysis of Chromosome Fragile Sites

2017
A fragile site is a chromosomal locus that is prone to form a gap or constriction visible within a condensed metaphase chromosome, particularly following exposure of cells to DNA replication stress. Based on their frequency, fragile sites are classified as either common (CFSs; present in all individuals) or rare (RFSs; present in only a few individuals)

Fragility analysis for ballistic design

Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, 2016
AbstractEffective structural design to resist ballistic effects such as small arms or fragmenting weapons has been a goal since weapons were developed. Approaches currently in use for ballistic design are predominantly deterministic and allow designers to decide what wall thickness should be used to stop a prescribed projectile impacting at a ...

Methylation Analysis of the Fragile X Syndrome by PCR

Genetic Testing, 1997
The fragile X syndrome is predominantly caused by a large expansion of a CGG trinucleotide repeat in the promoter region of the FMR1 gene, which is associated with methylation and downregulation of transcription. The molecular diagnosis of this disorder is based on repeat size and methylation analysis of the FMR1 gene usually by Southern blot analysis.

Fragility Analysis for the Bridge Control Benchmark Problem

Civil-Comp Proceedings, 2009
This study evaluates the fragility curves of a cable stayed bridge using Monte Carlo simulations. The presentation of the vulnerability information in the form of fragility curves is a widely practiced approach when several uncertain sources are involved.

Recurrent Fragility Fractures: A Cross-sectional Analysis

Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2019
Introduction: Despite growing rates of fragility fractures, there has been a lack of research investigating the risk and characteristics of recurrent fragility fractures. Methods: The Medicare Standard Analytic Files database was used to identify patients from 2005 to 2009 who were ...

Molecular Analysis of Fragile X Syndrome

Current Protocols in Human Genetics, 2003
AbstractThe gene responsible for fragile X syndrome, fragile X mental retardation‐1 (FMR1), contains an unstable repeat sequence of (CGG)n. Additionally, an upstream promoter region of the gene—a CpG island—is abnormally methylated in most affected individuals.

Segregation analysis of rare autosomal fragile sites

Human Genetics, 1986
Segregation analyses were performed on pedigrees with rare autosomal fragile sites. The results of the analysis of pedigrees with folate sensitive fragile sites, including 2q1, 6p23, 7p11, 8q22, 9q32, 10q23, 11q13, 11q23, 12q13, 16p12, and 20p11, suggested that expression of the gene depended on the carrier parent: it was only 50% penetrant when ...

Analysis of the fragile-X chromosome: localization and detection of the fragile site in high resolution preparations

Human Genetics, 1985
Fragile X chromosome preparations were analyzed at levels of up to 850 bands per haploid set. We were able to consistently sublocalize the Xqter fragile site to band Xq27.3 using high-resolution methods. Chromosome length versus the frequency of fragile X expression was also compared.

Are results from randomized trials in anesthesiology robust or fragile? An analysis using the fragility index

International Journal of Evidence-Based Healthcare, 2019
ABSTRACT Aim: In anesthesiology, the findings from randomized controlled trials often underpin guidelines influencing clinical decision-making and therefore directly affect patient care. The aim of this study is to evaluate the fragility index and fragility quotient of randomized controlled trials published in the ...
