Mobile home fragility curves

Earthquake Spectra, 2022
Seismic fragility of mobile (manufactured) homes is investigated. Compiled is a catalog of home performance in past earthquakes. Intensity measures causing damage are characterized by peak ground acceleration and velocity. Damage is defined as when the home is knocked out of position necessitating repairs and re‐installation. Four categories of support

Fragility Curves of RC Bridges in México

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2022
Large earthquakes have epicenters on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and many of them are responsible of damages in reinforced concrete (RC) bridges. The Pacific Coast is a highly active seismic zone where most of the strong earthquakes in the country occur.

Seismic Fragility Curve Assessment Based on Synthetic Ground Motions with Conditional Spectra

open access: yesPure and Applied Geophysics, 2019
International audienceEvaluating of fragility curves using ground motions compatible with conditional spectra allows selecting ground motions with good consistency with the hazard.

Lineation of the Osmotic Fragility Curve of Erythrocytes

Scandinavian Journal of Haematology, 1980
Lineation of the osmotic fragility curve by the method of Detraglia et al (1974) may be performed in most samples from a hospital population. Using the lineation procedure, the osmotic fragility may be tested by only 2 solutions of known osmolarity without any great loss of precision or accuracy. The osmotic fragility curve may be described by 2 values:

Fragility curves as a handy forecasting method

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2023
The fragility curves method, which is commonly used in the prediction of damage associated with a certain earthquake intensity, is here extended as an agile and handy method, able to oer a reliable forecast of the evolution of deterioration process for masonry (or concrete) structures. We present some dierent contexts where the fragility curves provide

Seismic Assessment of a Full-Scale Double-Storey Residential House using Fragility Curve [PDF]

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2013
Seismic assessment of double-storey house is investigated using fragility curve. Fragility curve is employed to determine the percentage Confident Interval for a precast house based on the experimental work.

Functional Fragility Curves for Production Capacity

2021
In this chapter, the “Functional fragility curve (FFC)” was proposed to directly capture the relationship between seismic intensity and the probability of exceeding the damaged states relating to the business activity level. The statistical characteristics of the FFC were investigated based on the data accumulated after the two earthquakes in Japan ...

Fragility Curves for Residential Masonry Chimneys

Earthquake Spectra, 2018
Chimney behavior is studied via computer simulations to quantify the effects of specific parameters, including chimney height above roof, masonry flexural tensile strength, chimney section dimensions, vertical steel reinforcement, and chimney‐house anchorage strength. All of these parameters are found to affect performance.

Intensity measure conversion of fragility curves

Earthquake Engineering & Structural Dynamics, 2020
SummaryIn seismic risk assessment of structures, fragility functions are the probabilistic characterization of vulnerability at the component and/or structural level, expressing the probability of failure as a function of a ground motion intensity measure (IM).

Generation of hazard-consistent fragility curves

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 1994
Abstract This paper presents an analytical method for generating fragility curves of structures. In the proposed method, seismic sources, path attenuation, local soil conditions, and nonlinear building behavior are systematically considered. The uncertainties in the earthquake-site-structure system are quantified by considering the uncertainties in ...
