Proton mobility and main fragmentation pathways of protonated lysylglycine

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2001
Abstract Theoretical model calculations were performed to validate the ‘mobile proton’ model for protonated lysylglycine (KG). Detailed scans carried out at various quantum chemical levels of the potential energy surface (PES) of protonated KG resulted in a large number of minima belonging to various protonation sites and conformers ...

Small heparin fragments regulate the amplification pathway of complement

Immunopharmacology, 1985
Heparin is a highly sulfated, polydisperse and heterogeneous glycosaminoglycan which has been well characterized for its ability to regulate multiple sites in the complement cascade. Although previous studies demonstrated the relationship between degree of sulfation, particularly O-sulfation, and complement inhibiting capacity, they left unclear the ...

Fragmentation pathways in electron impact mass spectra of methoxyhalobiphenyls

Biological Mass Spectrometry, 1980
The electron impact mass spectra of various methoxyhalobiphenyls have been reinvestigated. Previous findings, concerning the effect of the methoxy group upon the main fragmentation routes, have been confirmed and extended. In addition, studies of unimolecular and collision induced fragmentation of ions, using linked scan techniques, have been made ...

Ionization and fragmentation of uracil upon microhydration.

Physical Chemistry, Chemical Physics - PCCP, 2019
We study at the DFT level the ionization and the fragmentation of uracil in the presence of zero, one and two water molecules, to unravel the effect of microhydration on the reactivity of this nucleobase.

Structures, energetics and fragmentation pathways of CnH22+ carbodications

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Ion Processes, 1985
Potential energy curves have been calculated for CnH22+ (n = 2−9) ions and results have been compared with data on unimolecular charge-separation reactions obtained by Rabrenovic and Beynon. Geometry-optimized, minimum energy, linear CnH22+ structures have been computed for ground and low-lying excited states.

Neuropeptide Conversion to Bioactive Fragments - An Important Pathway in Neuromodulation

Current Protein & Peptide Science, 2003
Biosynthetic pathways for the formation of neuroactive peptides and the processes for their inactivation include several enzymatic steps. In addition to enzymatic processing and degradation, several neuropeptides have been shown to undergo enzymatic conversion to fragments with retained or modified biological activity.
