2012We aim at understanding if and how complex it is to obfuscate traffic features exploited by statistical traffic flow classification tools. We address packet length masking and define perfect masking as an optimization problem, aiming at minimizing overhead. An explicit efficient algorithm is given to compute the optimum masking sequence.

Geometric statistics and dynamic fragmentation
Journal of Applied Physics, 1985The present study is focused on the distributions in particle size produced in dynamic fragmentation processes. Previous work on this subject is reviewed. We then examine the one-dimensional fragmentation problem as a random Poisson process and provide comparisons with expanding ring fragmentation data.

Peptide Fragment Intensity Statistical Modeling
Analytical Chemistry, 2007We present new statistical models of peptide fragment peak intensities that achieve unprecedented accuracy, and we discuss their application to the problem of scoring in database searching or peptide de novo sequencing. The models, made available via open-source computer programs, are very general and can potentially improve any intensity-based scoring.
