Multi‐Scale Drivers of Food‐Water‐Energy Related Ecosystem Services in the Context of Land Degradation: Insights From the Beijing‐Tianjin‐Hebei Agglomeration

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 6, Page 2058-2083, 15 April 2026.
ABSTRACT Land degradation poses significant challenges to maintaining food–water–energy (FWE) security, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions. The ecosystem services (ES) related to FWE are critical for sustainable regional development. Yet, rapid urbanization in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region has altered land use and ecological patterns ...

Fragmentação florestal em região semiárida no Nordeste do Brasil

open access: yesPesquisa Florestal Brasileira, 2019
Os estudos de ecologia da paisagem a partir de métricas utilizando geoprocessamento e sensoriamento remoto são importantes tecnologias para avaliar as condições dos remanescentes florestais nativos, principalmente em biomas fragmentados e com alta taxa ...

Mapping connectivity for conservation of a threatened iconic mammal, the koala: Trends, challenges and opportunities

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 2, April–June 2026.
We systematically reviewed the connectivity mapping literature for an iconic threatened species, the koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) and identified key challenges and opportunities. Realised functional connectivity mapping has not yet been utilised for koalas and could facilitate more successful conservation management of this threatened species ...

Harnessing nature‐based solutions in modified tropical peatland to benefit biodiversity

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 4, April 2026.
Our findings demonstrate that well‐designed protection–production NbS schemes in tropical peat swamps can deliver joint climate and biodiversity benefits, provided that governance safeguards core forests while improving habitat quality in production zones.

Landscape Composition and Proximity to Water Affect American Badger Occupancy in Shortgrass Prairies 景观组成和与水的距离影响矮草草原中美洲獾的占域率

open access: yesWildlife Letters, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 23-31, March 2026.
American badgers, a medium‐sized carnivore occurring in much of North America, are important predators in prairie landscapes though our understanding of their habitat use requirements in these areas is unclear. We used a multi‐scale approach to understand American badger habitat use at both local and landscape scales.

Unlocking landscape transient dynamics: Integrating traditional ecological knowledge for enhanced analysis of land‐use changes and forest expansion in a Mediterranean ecosystem

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 2, Page 283-300, February 2026.
Abstract The Industrial Revolution triggered rural abandonment in Europe and had a profound impact on land configuration and ecosystem dynamics, mainly the growth of forests at the expense of open agricultural habitats. However, rural abandonment has been asynchronous in space and time, depending on regional socio‐economic dynamics.

Potential Distribution Modeling and Conservation Gap Identification for Rare and Endangered Plant Species: A Case Study of 10 Species in Hubei Province

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
An integrated SDMs‐InVEST approach coupled with SPP and HPP was applied to quantify and identify conservation gaps in Hubei Province. Although habitat quality is projected to improve, spatial heterogeneity and landscape fragmentation will intensify across the region.

石羊河流域中、下游绿洲景观动态变化的比较研究

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao, 2004
