HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

ارزیابی ریسک حریق در آزمایشگاه های دانشگاه علوم پزشکی با استفاده از روش FRAME [PDF]

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

S-Metrizability and the Wallman basis of a frame [PDF]

open access: yesCategories and General Algebraic Structures with Applications
The Wallman basis of a frame and the corresponding induced compactification was first investigated by Baboolal [2]. In this paper, we provide an intrinsic characterisation of S-metrizability in terms of the Wallman basis of a frame. Particularly, we show

Financing housing through government-sponsored enterprises [PDF]

open access: yes
Three government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs)-Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Bank System-were created to improve the availability of home mortgage financing by supplementing local funding.

Classical Physics of Thermal Scalar Radiation in Two Spacetime Dimensions

open access: yes, 2010
Thermal scalar radiation in two spacetime dimensions is treated within relativistic classical physics. Part I involves an inertial frame where are given the analogues both of Boltzmann's derivation of the Stefan-Boltzmann law and also Wien's derivation ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Frame dragging and super-energy

open access: yes, 2007
We show that the vorticity appearing in stationary vacuum spacetimes is always related to the existence of a flow of super-energy on the plane orthogonal to the vorticity vector.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
