Frame rate up conversion via Bayesian motion estimation
SPIE Proceedings, 2010In this paper, a novel block-based motion compensated frame interpolation (MCI) algorithm is proposed to enhance the temporal resolution of video sequences. We formulated motion estimation into MAP framework, and solved it via Bayesian belief propagation.

A Motion Adaptive Wavelet-Denoising for Frame-Rate Up-Conversion
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016This study introduces a frame-rate up-conversion method that uses a temporal wavelet zerotree-based shrinkage algorithm over motion trajectory of a video obtained by optical flow. The method starts by optical flow estimation for predicting initial estimates of inserted frame pixels. Then, the predicted frame pixels are denoised using a specific wavelet-

Occlusion Aware Motion Compensation for Video Frame Rate Up-Conversion
Signal and Image Processing, 2010Since the emergence of high definition (HD) display technologies, video standards conversion problem has become an important issue in storage, transmission and display of video content. Video frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) is considered as a standard task for today’s HD displays because these displays reach high refresh rates of at least 100/120 Hz ...

Accurate Frame Rate Up-Conversion for Advanced Visual Quality
IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 2016Motion-compensated frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) is a method for providing better video image quality than non-motion-based methods. However, incorrect motion vector (MV) prediction can lead to continued induction of debris and artifacts. In this paper, a motion compensated FRUC algorithm is proposed, which is able to acquire more accurate MVs by ...

Adaptive frame rate up-conversion based on motion classification
Signal Processing, 2008In this paper, a new technique on video frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) is presented by combining the adaptive motion classification (AMC) for image sequences and the mixed motion estimation (ME). In the proposed FRUC scheme, the AMC classifies sequences into global and local motion sequences (G/LMS) whose advantages are fully utilized.

Adaptive Frame Rate Up-conversion for 3D Graphics Pipelines
2007 Digest of Technical Papers International Conference on Consumer Electronics, 2007This paper presents a novel 3D graphics pipeline for consumer devices able to achieve increased frame-rate at its output, high picture quality, improved temporal anti-aliasing, thanks to a frame-rate up-conversion algorithm based on motion extraction from 3D primitives and efficient compensation, without the need for any motion estimation tool.

Frame rate up-conversion for high-definition video applications
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2013In this paper, a novel frame rate up-conversion (FRUC) scheme to achieve better visual quality for high-definition videos is proposed. The proposed algorithm has three main advantages over conventional FRUC algorithms. First, to increase the accuracy of motion estimation, this paper considers the diversity of motions, the retiming motion vectors of the

Fractional frame rate up-conversion using weighted median filters
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 1989The authors present algorithms for increasing the frame rate of an interlaced television system by a factor of 1.5. The algorithms utilize a weighted median filter structure and a simple motion detector. By adjusting the weights among the incoming fields the algorithms can be used with noninteger conversion factors.

Adaptive motion-compensated interpolation for frame rate up-conversion
IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, 2002We propose a new frame rate up-conversion (FRC) algorithm using the adaptive motion compensation (MC) that reduces the blocking artifacts due to block-based processing. In the proposed scheme, after conventional motion estimation (ME) between two adjacent frames is performed to construct the motion vectors for the frame to be interpolated, the motion ...

Video frame rate up conversion under inconsistent camera motion
Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2007In this paper, we address the problem of video frame rate up-conversion (FRC) in the compressed domain. FRC is often recognized as video temporal interpolation. This problem is very challenging when targeted for video sequences with inconsistent camera and object motion, such as sports videos.
