On the Observables Describing a Quantum Reference Frame

open access: yes, 2000
A reference frame F is described by the element g of the Poincare' group P which connects F with a given fixed frame F_0. If F is a quantum frame, defined by a physical object following the laws of quantum physics, the parameters of g have to be ...

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Analytical Investigation of the Differences between Cast-In-Situ and Precast Beam-Column Connections under Seismic Actions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
At present, the engineering designers generally design and analyze the precast structural models according to the equivalent cast-in-situ principle, and have a vague understanding of non-identical problems.

Ensemble Variability of Near-Infrared-Selected Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yes, 2011
We present the properties of the ensemble variability $V$ for nearly 5000 near-infrared (NIR) AGNs selected from the catalog of Quasars and Active Galactic Nuclei (13th Ed.) and the SDSS-DR7 quasar catalog.

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Evaluation of eddy current damper for vibration control of a frame structure

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications, 2019
In this study, an eddy current damper (ECD) prototype model is presented. The ECD consists of three principal components: Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets, a copper plate (conductive material) and an aluminium frame.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
