Negative Shear Lag in Framed‐Tube Buildings
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1994Occurrence of negative shear lag in framed‐tube buildings under lateral loading is reported in the literature, but explanation of its origin and comprehensive studies of it are lacking. The present paper separates column axial‐force distribution in a story into two modes; one contributing to the positive shear lag and the other to the negative shear ...

Simple Method for Approximate Analysis of Framed Tube Structures
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1994Framed tube structures are particularly suitable for tall buildings. They act primarily like cantilevered box beams and since they generally have much larger lateral dimensions than the internal shear wall cores, they are more effective in resisting the overturning moments of the lateral loads.

SPECTACLE FRAME HOLDER FOR LEVIN TUBE
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1941The frequent and increasing use of indwelling gastric and intestinal tubes for gavage, lavage, aspiration and drainage has suggested an improvement in the customary method of holding the catheter near the mouth or nose. The use of adhesive plaster is both unsightly and uncomfortable and often causes skin irritation.

Simple Model for Design of Framed‐Tube Structures
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1991A very simple model for the analysis and design of framed‐tube structures subjected to lateral loads is presented here. The structure is modeled as a series of stringers and shear panels. The elegance of the method lies not only in the simplicity and the accuracy of the method but also in the fact that all the necessary parameters are kept in the model

Static and Dynamic Modeling and Analysis of Tube Frames
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1984Tube frame structures subjected to static or dynamic loads are usually analyzed by the finite element method in which the structure is represented by a large system of equations. This method, however, requires extensive alculations and considerable efforts in data preparation and output interpretation.

Reciprocal Frame Optimisation for Laser-Tube Technology
Volume 1: Applied Mechanics; Automotive Systems; Biomedical Biotechnology Engineering; Computational Mechanics; Design; Digital Manufacturing; Education; Marine and Aerospace Applications, 2014The research project presented in this paper investigates the architectonic and constructive potential of computational design and digital fabrication in steel construction. The original contribution of this project is the development of a digital design system that solves reciprocal interlinked structures through algorithmic design and iterative ...

Framed-Tube Structures for High-Rise Buildings
Journal of the Structural Division, 1971The framed-tube system is regarded as an economic solution for high-rise buildings. However, in view of the shear lag which occurs as a result of the flexibility of the spandrel beams, it is essential to predict accurately the structural behavior of the system.

Prediction of shear‐lag effects in framed‐tube structures with internal tube(s)
The Structural Design of Tall Buildings, 2002AbstractThe shear‐lag phenomenon is a critical consideration in high‐rise building analysis and design. The shear‐lag behaviour of framed‐tube (including tube, tube‐in‐tube and tubes‐in‐tube constructions) is investigated for the behavioural characteristics of the structures and their performance in relation to the various structural parameters.

Improvements In Multiple Frame Image Tube Operation
SPIE Proceedings, 1987Repetitive gating of an invertor-type image tube has been achieved by a new technique involving the use of two grid electrodes. The method makes it possible to use gating pulses of imperfect shape without severe loss of image quality.
