Fats, Fire and Bronze Age Funerary Rites: Organic Residue Analysis of Wide Horizontal Rim Vessels From Burial Contexts in Northwest Portugal

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 3, Page 298-310, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study presents the first GC‐MS–based analyses of wide horizontal rim vessels with well‐defined funerary contexts, from Middle Bronze Age Portugal (Quinta do Amorim 2 and Pego). Organic residues from two vessels revealed ruminant fats and plant oils, alongside molecular markers of heat exposure.

Changes in sleep patterns in adolescents are more associated with pubertal indicators than age: A perfect storm with a dash of hormones

open access: yesBritish Journal of Developmental Psychology, Volume 44, Issue 2, Page 437-453, June 2026.
Abstract As they become older, adolescents tend to prefer sleeping and rising later. Yet, it is still unclear if these sleep changes occur due to advancing age or because adolescents are more pubertally mature. This was investigated cross‐sectionally in a sample of 121 Brazilian 9‐to‐17‐year‐olds.

Influence of the Uncertainty in the Dam‐Breach Hydrograph on the Flood Hazard Assessment in a Valley Area

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The reliability of flood event simulations is a crucial aspect in terms of saving lives. The worst flood scenarios derive from possible dam failures. For earthen dams, the breaching mechanism, triggered by overtopping or piping, is affected by several modelling uncertainties, which propagate downstream and may influence flood hazard mapping ...

How Flexible Are Grammars Past Puberty? The Case of Relative Clauses in Turkish‐American Returnees

open access: yesLanguage Learning, Volume 76, Issue 2, Page 391-424, June 2026.
Abstract How flexible are grammars after puberty? To answer this, we test returnees: heritage speakers (HS) born in an immigration context who returned to their homeland in later years. If returnees are targetlike, then language is still malleable after puberty; in contrast, if maturational effects are in play, postpuberty returnees will show ...

Concordance Between the Occlusal Contacts Record Obtained Using an Intraoral Scanner and Carbon Paper

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 3, Page 546-552, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the reliability of the registration of occlusal contacts through intraoral scanning in comparison with those obtained with the aid of carbon paper. Materials and Methods The occlusal registration was obtained at the beginning of the orthodontic treatment of 35 patients (23 men and 12 women), aged 15 to 30 years.
