Nanoscale Mapping of Transition Metal Ordering in Individual LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 Particles Using 4D‐STEM

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 18, 23 September 2026.
ABSTRACT The electrochemical performance of the spinel LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4, a high‐voltage positive electrode material for Li‐ion batteries (LIBs), is influenced by the transition metal arrangement in the octahedral network, leading to disordered (Fd3̲m$Fd\underline 3 m$ S.G.) and ordered (P4332 S.G.) structures.

Finding One's Place: ESL Teachers' Experiences of Language and Identity in the School Spaces of Quebec

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 1678-1705, September 2026.
Abstract This study investigates how English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers navigate their professional and linguistic identities within Quebec's complex linguistic landscape. Drawing on critical approaches to conceptualizing space, we examine physical and metaphorical spaces in schools as sites of identity negotiation and community building. Data

Spatial Variability in Phytoplankton Response to Projected Increases in Iron and Temperature in the Ross Sea

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The Ross Sea supports massive phytoplankton blooms and exhibits the highest marine primary productivity rates due to seasonal relief of iron and light limitations. Although Earth System Models project regional increases in temperature and iron supply, there is uncertainty regarding the response of different phytoplankton communities. To assess

Biological invasions disrupt the relationship between size spectrum and trophic interactions in freshwater fish communities

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 9, Page 1629-1641, September 2026.
Our study shows that non‐native species alter the relationship between the size‐spectrum slope and the predator–prey mass ratio (PPMR) in freshwater fish communities by occupying distinct trophic niches. Abstract The size spectrum, which describes the relationship between abundance (or biomass) and body size, is an ataxic approach that can provide ...

How big is enough? Movement‐informed zoning for African swine fever mitigation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 9, September 2026.
Our results highlight the need for context‐specific adaptive infectious buffer area. 8 km buffers around infected carcasses can limit the risk of infected wild boar dispersal but can be reduced to 5 km in highly heterogeneous landscapes or areas of high human impact. Larger buffers may be required in agricultural landscapes.
