Abstract: This article examines Obsesión (Arturo Ruiz Castillo, 1947) and Piedra de toque (Julio Buchs, 1964), two colonial melodramas released during the Francoist period. I explore how both these films tackled complex issues about the relationship between the colony and the metropole through the medium of white heterosexual triangulations.
