Mechanistic Origin of Photodegradation and Impurity Effects in Donor–Acceptor Luminescent Radicals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Purification‐dependent impurities distort the apparent optical and analytical data of TTM‐based radicals without altering their intrinsic photophysical properties. Carbazole attachment elevates the activation barrier of the photodegradation pathway, offering design principles for achieving more robust luminescent radical materials.

¿Váscones o Wascónes? Acerca del Ducado de Cantabria y la fundación de ciudades en el norte peninsular en época visigoda

open access: yesE-Spania, 2013
The Chronicles of Juan de Biclaro and Isidore of Seville news Visigothic foundation of two cities in Vasconia: Victoriacum and Ologicus. Traditionally identified with a point near Vitoria, the first, and the villa of Olite in Navarra, the second, this ...

An Isotopic Perturbation Lemma Along Periodic Orbits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A well-known lemma by John Franks asserts that one obtains any perturbation of the derivative of a diffeomorphism along a periodic orbit by a $C^1$-perturbation of the whole diffeomorphism on a small neighbourhood of the orbit.

Entropy zero area preserving diffeomorphisms of $S^2$

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper we formulate and prove a structure theorem for area preserving diffeomorphisms of genus zero surfaces with zero entropy. As an application we relate the existence of faithful actions of a finite index subgroup of the mapping class group of ...

Accelerating Luminescence in Nanostructures: Exploring the Physical Limits and Impact of Ultrafast Emission in Nanoscale Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in accelerating luminescence in nanostructures through cooperative emission, resonator coupling, and nonlocal light–matter interactions. By unifying concepts such as excitonic superradiance, superfluorescence, and the plasmonic Purcell effect, it reveals physical limits of ultrafast emission and their potential ...

Midbrain PAG Astrocytes Modulate Mouse Defensive and Panic‐Like Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocytes in the midbrain periaqueductal gray (PAG) dynamically encode threat intensity and shape defensive action selection in mice. Real‐time Ca2+ imaging reveals robust astrocytic activation during predator odor and CO2 exposure. Aberrant astrocytic Ca2+ overactivation disrupts goal‐directed escape, biases behavior toward freezing, and induces ...

Identification of a change in climate state using regional flood data [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2002
Flood frequency analysis typically assumes that annual floods arise from a single distribution and are independent. However, there is significant evidence for the existence of persistent climate modes. Timescales associated with climate variability range

The rationality of history and the history of rationality: Menachem Fisch on the analytic idealist predicament

open access: yesOpen Philosophy, 2020
Two essential Kantian insights are the significance for rationality of the capacity for criticism and the limits of cognition, discovered when criticism is pursued methodically, that are due to the perspectival character of the human standpoint.

Nanoscale Mapping of the Subcellular Glycosylation Landscape

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using multiplexed super‐resolution imaging with fluorophore‐labeled lectins, this study reports intracellular glycosylation at the nanoscale across organelles and synaptic specializations. Extending glycan analysis beyond the cell surface, Glyco‐STORM reveals distinct glycosylation nanodomains in the ER, Golgi, lysosomes, and synaptic sites.

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...
