Periodic points of Hamiltonian surface diffeomorphisms
The main result of this paper is that every non-trivial Hamiltonian diffeomorphism of a closed oriented surface of genus at least one has periodic points of arbitrarily high period. The same result is true for S^2 provided the diffeomorphism has at least

Tunable Applicator for Microneedle‐Based Medical Devices
This paper presents a simple, low‐cost tunable applicator (TAPP) for microneedle array patches that uses a material‐agnostic controlled‐fracture mechanism to ensure reliable skin penetration and uniform array engagement. The scalable, modular design is compatible with injection molding and 3D printing, can be integrated directly into patches, and is ...

Alpha-Gal Allergy: a new threat to Appalachia
Alpha-gal allergy, or mammalian meat allergy, is described as the development of IgE antibodies to the oligosaccharide galactose-a-1,3-galactose following a bite from the tick species Amblyomma americanum (Lone Star tick) or Dermacentor variabillis (Wood

Blue organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs) comprising triplet‐harvesting emitters require the use of high‐triplet‐energy hosts and blocking layers to confine the triplet excitons to the emitter. Here, we present efficient single‐layer blue hyperfluorescent OLEDs comprising solely of a matrix‐free emissive layer between two charge‐injecting electrodes ...

Zero entropy subgroups of mapping class groups
Let $M$ be a compact surface with boundary. We are interested in the question of how a group action on $M$ permutes a finite invariant set $X \subset int(M)$.

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

A certain synchronizing property of subshifts and flow equivalence [PDF]
We will study a certain synchronizing property of subshifts called $\lambda$-synchronization. The $\lambda$-synchronizing subshifts form a large class of irreducible subshifts containing irreducible sofic shifts.

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Functional similarity in landscape scale SVAT modelling [PDF]
In this study, it is shown that the complexity of Soil Vegetation Atmosphere Transfer (SVAT) models leads to an equifinality of functional behaviour - many parameterizations from many areas of the parameter space lead to very similar responses ...
