What Is FRAX®?

2013
As noted in the chapter about diagnosing osteoporosis (see Chap. 1), T-scores alone may not be adequate to predict the risk for fragility fractures and diagnose the disease state of osteoporosis because bone density testing only partially explains the risk for fracture.

Possible founder effects for FRAXE alleles

American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1999
To determine if FRAXE alleles may have haplotype associations with nearby microsatellites, we analyzed 149 unrelated control Caucasian X chromosomes for FRAXE GCC alleles along with five nearby microsatellites. The microsatellites included three that are new; GT25, CA4, and CA5 located approximately 24, approximately 48, and approximately 50 kb ...

The impact of a FRAX-based intervention threshold in Turkey: the FRAX-TURK study

Archives of Osteoporosis, 2012
With the development of country-specific FRAX® tools to estimate fracture probability, guidance is required on the fracture probability at which treatment can be recommended. The aim of the present study was to determine FRAX-based intervention thresholds in men and women from Turkey and determine their population impact.Intervention thresholds for ...

FRAX®: objetivar ou confiar?

2013

[FRAXE mental retardation].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 1999
The folate sensitive fragile site FRAXE is located in Xq28, 600 kb distal to the fragile X syndrome (FRAXA) fragile site. An unstable GCC triplet repeat responsible for FRAXE exists in the 5' untranslated region of FMR2 gene. Normal alleles range from 10-35 repeats and more frequently 15-20 GCCs.
