Perturbation in a Free Boundary Problem
This paper is concerned with the Dirichlet boundary value problem for a semilinear elliptic partial differential equation with a discontinuous nonlinearity on the unit ball \(B\) in \(\mathbb{R}^2\). Precisely, the authors consider the problem for \(u\) with two positive parameters \(\lambda\) and \(\varepsilon\): \[ - \Delta u= (\lambda+ \varepsilon g(

Current Tracking Adaptive Control of Brushless DC Motors
In this paper, the current tracking for Brushless Direct Current motors is approached considering uncertainty in the parameters of the motor's model. An adaptive control scheme to compensate electrical parameters uncertainty is proposed without requiring any knowledge of the mechanical parameters.

Continuity of the free boundary in elliptic problems with Neuman boundary condition
We show the continuity of the free boundary in a class of two dimensional free boundary problems with Neuman boundary condition, which includes the aluminium electrolysis problem and the heterogeneous dam problem with leaky boundary condition.

Self-similar solutions of a multi-phase Stefan problem on the half-line
In this paper, we study self-similar solutions of the multiphase Stefan problem for the heat equation on the half-line x 0 with constant initial data and Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions. In the case of the Dirichlet boundary condition, we prove

ONE DIMENSIONAL COMBUSTION FREE BOUNDARY PROBLEM [PDF]
Summary: A free boundary problem for a parabolic system arising from the mathematical theory of combustion is considered in the one-dimensional case. The existence and uniqueness of the classical solution local in time is obtained by the use of a fixed point theorem.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Perturbation of the free boundary in elliptic problem with discontinuities
We study the discontinuous elliptic problem $$\displaylines{ -\Delta u = \lambda H(u-\mu ) \quad \text{in } \Omega,\cr u =h \quad \text{on }\partial \Omega, }$$ where $\Omega$ is a regular bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^n$, $H$ is the Heaviside ...

Stability of Solutions to a Free Boundary Problem for Tumor Growth
We study the asymptotic behaviour of quasi-stationary solutions of a free boundary problem which had been discussed by Bueno (2005). Using a simpler method we prove that the quasi-steady solutions of the problem converge uniformly to the unique ...
