Magnetohydrodynamic Free-Convection Pipe Flow
Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1961Comparison of Flow-Direction Probes at Supersonic Speeds FRANK W. BARRY 750 I HAS BEEN SHOWN 1 tha t transverse magnetic fields of practica strengths exert considerable influence on liquid-metal, freeconvection, vertical, flat-plate and parallel-plate flow fields.

Free Convective Flow Patterns in Cylindrical Annuli
Journal of Heat Transfer, 1969The results of all available experimental investigations into the characteristics of free convective flow of air between horizontal isothermal concentric cylinders are reviewed and several discrepancies are pointed out. An experimental study is described which was directed at resolving these discrepancies and categorizing the several flow patterns ...

Vertically Staggered Patterns in Free Convective Flow
1979The theory of cellular convection admits solutions which not only show periodicity in horizontal direction but also describe a vertical echelon of the flow. Such a flow pattern is attributed to the higher eigenvalues (critical Rayleigh numbers) of the corresponding stability problem (for details see S. Chandrasekhar (1961)).

Free convection at low Prandtl numbers
Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1969In this paper it is shown that the free convection boundary layer approaches a singular character if the Prandtl number tends to zero. The method of matched asymptotic expansions is used to integrate the equations for this extreme case. An expression is derived for the Nusselt—Grashof relation and the results are compared with those of previous ...

LAMINAR FREE CONVECTION OF THE MIXING FLOWS IN VERTICAL CHANNELS
Numerical Heat Transfer, 1988This paper is concerned with the numerical study of the heat transfer characteristics of the laminar mixing flow within a vertical channel. Free convection flows are induced by buoyant force from the subchannels and mix upward in the downstream main channel.

Laminar flow structure in vertical free convective cavities
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1978Abstract This paper describes an investigation of the naturai convective flow structure generated by heat transfer in a vertical rectangular cavity for aspect ratio of 5. Velocity profiles were measured at a Rayleigh number of 5 × 104 and the three dimensional flow structure determined.

Turbulence spectra in free convection flow
Physics of Fluids A: Fluid Dynamics, 1991The results of a laboratory experiment to study the spectral density of temperature fluctuations in a fully developed round plume are presented. It is found that there is a range of low wave numbers K (the next to inertial subrange) where the spectra of temperature are proportional to K−3.

MHD free convective flow in a vertical channel
Acta Mechanica, 1973An analysis of the fully-developed MHD free convective flow between two vertical, electrically conducting plates has been carried out. The effects of the external circuit, heat sources and modified boundary conditions on the temperature at the non-perfect thermally conducting plates have been studied.

Combined Forced and Free-Convection Laminar Flow
Journal of Heat Transfer, 1964Effects of buoyancy forces on a forced-convection laminar flow as well as the forced-convection effects on a purely free-convection laminar flow about a vertical flat plate are analyzed. Solutions are obtained by expanding the stream function and the temperature function into series in terms of the parameter Grx/Rex2 when approaching from the forced ...
