Linear permanent magnet Electric Generator for Free Piston Engine applications
2012 XXth International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2012As a response to the major climatic changes due to global warming and the foreseen oil shortages once the natural reserves will perish, most vehicle manufacturers began research programs on alternative fuel vehicles. The Hybrid Electric Vehicles, as an intermediate step to full electric vehicles, can incorporate Free Piston Engine — Linear Electric ...

A moving-coil linear generator with dual axial-magnetized stator for free-piston engines
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2021Free-piston engine coupled with linear generator is a new type of thermoelectric energy converter, which has the advantages of high efficiency and simple structure. In this paper, a novel moving-coil linear generator with dual axial-magnetized stator is proposed for this kind of short-stroke high frequency oscillation generating applications.

Linear Generator Design for a Free-Piston Engine with high Force Density
2019 12th International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA), 2019This paper presents a detailed analysis of electrical linear machine concepts, suitable for energy conversion via a free-piston engine. Based on a simulation of the piston dynamics and a thermal evaluation, the boundary conditions are determined. Different machine concepts regarding the geometry (tubular or planar with emphasis on force density are ...
