Predicting onset conditions of a free piston Stirling engine
Applied Energy, 2020Abstract This research predicts the onset conditions of the free piston Stirling engines using analytical solution of the governing equations and averaging-based Lyapunov technique. In this regard, firstly, the linear dynamic equations of the free piston Stirling engines are extracted.

Control-based design of free-piston stirling engines
2008 American Control Conference, 2008A control-based analysis and characterization of a free-piston Stirling engine is presented, and proposed as a lightweight power supply for untethered robots. Typically, such devices are designed from the point of view of a thermodynamic cycle in terms of traditional thermodynamic equations of state.

Dynamic Behaviour Prediction Of Free-piston Stirling Engines
Proceedings of the 25th Intersociety Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, 2005The paper presents an integrated methodology for both the design optimization and the performance evaluation of free-piston Stirling engines (FPSE) suitable for space applications. In particular, the prediction of the dynamic behaviour is the problem here considered in more detail.

Optimization of a dual free piston Stirling engine
Applied Thermal Engineering, 2007This work relates the theoretical study of the dynamic behavior of a dual free-piston Stirling engine (DFPSE) coupled with an asynchronous linear alternator. This machine integrates one piston and two displacers placed in a symmetrical way compared to the piston to improve the stability of the machine.
