Dynamic Simulation of the CO2 Cryogenic Separation Process

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study develops steady‐state and dynamic models of a CO2 cryogenic separation process using Aspen HYSYS, focusing on control and operational robustness. The sensitive tray in the purification tower is identified using slope and sensitivity criteria, and PID controllers are applied with parameters tuned by empirical and relay autotuning.

Methods for Discerning the Impact of Mucus on Host Defenses Against Viral Infection

open access: yesCurrent Protocols, Volume 5, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Mucus is an important component of airway host defenses that acts by enabling the trapping and clearance of infectious materials such as bacteria and viruses. It can be difficult, however, to design experiments that independently determine the extent to which mucus contributes to innate barrier functions in the lung.

Performance Measurements and Control Characteristics of a 1 kW Class Free Piston Stirling Converter With AC Bus Controls

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
An experimental study of the control characteristics of a 1 kW class free‐piston stirling converter (FPSC) with alternating current (AC) bus controls is conducted. A performance test rig is constructed using a commercial beta‐type FPSC, and an AC bus controller that includes a tuning capacitor, a set of load resistors, and an AC power supply is ...
