Selective Membrane for Non‐Aqueous Electrochemical Flow Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfonated fixed charge functionalization is increased to improve the conductivity of a cation exchange membrane in a non‐aqueous electrochemical cell. Based on ex situ analyses, the material achieved the highest selectivity for this type of system to date.

Atmospheric cooling of freshwater near the temperature of maximum density [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We perform three-dimensional direct numerical simulations of surface-driven convection near the temperature of maximum density $\tilde T_{md}$. A dynamic surface boundary condition couples heat flux through the surface to the induced convection, creating a dynamic equilibrium between the surface water temperature and the convection below.

Oscillations and convective motion in stars with URCA shells [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
It is shown that in presence of URCA shell pulsational energy losses due to neutrino emission and nonequilibrium beta heating are much less than energy losses by excitation of short-wavelength acoustic waves. Convective motion in presence of URCA shell is considered, and equations generalizing the mean free path model of convection are derived.

Metamaterial Adhesives‐Integrated Triboelectric Nanogenerators with Enhanced and Programmable Charge Generation and Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A metamaterial adhesive‐integrated triboelectric nanogenerator (MetaAdh‐TENG) that integrates nonlinear cuts and a TENG in a flexible adhesive film is presented. The MetaAdh‐TENG simultaneously provides enhanced charge generation and strong adhesion by controlling crack propagation during peeling.

On the Onsetof Thermal Instability in a Low Prandtl Number Nanofluid Layer in a Porous Medium

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2015
Thermal instability in a low Prandtl number nanofluid in a porous medium is investigated by using Galerkin weighted residuals method for free-free boundaries. For porous medium, Brinkman-Darcy modelis applied.

A thermal optimization throughan innovative mechanism of free convection flow of Jeffrey fluid using non-local kernel

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
Optimality for operating temperature can improve the reliability of thermodynamics of convection flow of Jeffrey fluid through mathematical techniques; this is because thermal convection is invoked in several engineering problems for knowingan accurate ...

Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Hairy Particles with Controllable High Enzyme Loading and Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Investigating the effects of employing a cooling radiator on MHD natural convection by injecting MWCNTs into water

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2023
One of the best methods in thermal engineering for cooling a liquid is to use a radiator. Using the radiator mechanism in free convection systems is a successful and first idea to improve performance of natural convection systems, which have various ...
