Bioinspired, Guanidinium, and Indole Modified Poly(glycidyl ether)s as Highly Efficient Vectors for Polyplex‐Mediated Gene Delivery

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Guanidinium‐ and indole‐functionalized poly(glycidyl ether)s were developed as non‐viral gene delivery vectors with tunable hydrophilic–hydrophobic balance. All polymers formed stable DNA polyplexes, while moderate indole content yielded the highest transfection efficiency at low N/P ratios.

Toward Super‐Resolution Reconstruction of Diffusion–Relaxation MRI Using Slice Excitation With Random Overlap (SERO)

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Diffusion MRI probes tissue microstructure, but low SNR and limited resolution hinder detection of features and parameter estimates. We introduce slice excitation with random overlap (SERO), which enables variable repetition times (TRs) and diffusion weighting within a single shot.

Universal scaling of current fluctuations in disordered graphene

open access: yes, 2007
We analyze the full transport statistics of graphene with smooth disorder at low dopings. First we consider the case of 1D disorder for which the transmission probability distribution is given analytically in terms of the graphene-specific mean free path.

Quantification of Alkali‐Fluoride Nanoparticle Dissolution in Aqueous Media as a Function of Crystallinity and Surface Modification

open access: yesParticle &Particle Systems Characterization, EarlyView.
Fluoride release kinetics from uncoated and coated β−NaYF4$\ubeta-{\rm NaYF}_4$ and LiYF4${\rm LiYF}_4$ in aqueous solutions are quantified using an ion‐selective electrode coupled to a dialysis compartment. TEM/DLS/ICP‐OES and speciation‐aware modeling complement the fluoride release results.

Thermosensitive Nanostructured Coacervates Developed by Mixing ABA‐ and AB‐Block Copolymers and Their Unique Sustained Release of Nano‐Micelles in a Regulated Manner

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Polyion complex micelles composed of blends of ABA and AB block copolymers can form coacervates with a hexagonally packed cylinder nanostructure after heating. The resulting coacervates can release the micelles under physiological conditions in a zero‐order kinetics, possessing cargo proteins.

Trajectory phase transitions, Lee-Yang zeros, and high-order cumulants in full counting statistics

open access: yes, 2012
We investigate Lee-Yang zeros of generating functions of dynamical observables and establish a general relation between phase transitions in ensembles of trajectories of stochastic many-body systems and the time evolution of high-order cumulants of such ...

On Exponential‐Family INGARCH Models

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A range of integer‐valued generalised autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic (INGARCH) models have been proposed in the literature, including those based on conditional Poisson, negative binomial and Conway‐Maxwell‐Poisson distributions. This note considers a larger class of exponential‐family INGARCH models, showing that maximum empirical

L-cumulants, L-cumulant embeddings and algebraic statistics

open access: yes, 2012
Focusing on the discrete probabilistic setting we generalize the combinatorial definition of cumulants to L-cumulants. This generalization keeps all the desired properties of the classical cumulants like semi-invariance and vanishing for independent ...

Adaptive Estimation for Weakly Dependent Functional Times Series

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose adaptive mean and autocovariance function estimators for stationary functional time series under 𝕃p−m‐approximability assumptions. These estimators are designed to adapt to the regularity of the curves and to accommodate both sparse and dense data designs.

Probing the QCD phase diagram with fluctuations

open access: yes, 2014
The relevance of higher order cumulants of conserved charges for the analysis of freeze-out and critical conditions in heavy ion collisions at LHC and RHIC is discussed.
