Lithium Intercalation in the Anisotropic Van Der Waals Semiconductor CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report the lithium intercalation in the layered van der Waals crystal CrSBr, revealing strongly anisotropic ion‐migration dynamics. Optical and electrical characterization of exfoliated CrSBr shows lithium diffusion coefficients that differ by more than an order of magnitude along a‐ and b‐directions, consistent with molecular dynamics simulations ...

Block Copolymers: Emerging Building Blocks for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review addresses how block copolymer (BCP) physics and rheology have led to the widespread use of BCPs in advanced additive manufacturing techniques, with particular emphasis on the untapped potential of these nanostructured materials toward achieving multi‐scale architected materials with unique, programmable material properties.

Numerical Study of Microbeam with Geometric Discontinuity Under Electrostatic Load using Strain Gradient Theory [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2020
In this work, the pull in analysis of microbeam with geometric discontinuity for two different boundary conditions has been investigated. Boundary conditions are considered as Clamped-Free (CF) and Clamped-Clamped (CC).

Proteins, Processing, and Properties of Adhesive Fluid Condensates Purified from Mussels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mussels exhibit an unmatched proficiency for adhering to wet surfaces in salty environments—a remarkable ability that could inspire new biomedical and technical glues. The fluid protein condensates used to form the underwater mussel glue are extracted, reconstituted and characterized with advanced spectroscopy and nanomechanical analysis, revealing ...

Numerical Analysis of Free Play-Induced Aeroelastic Phenomena: A Numerical Approach With Adaptive Step Size Control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering
This study presents a detailed numerical analysis of nonlinear aeroelastic behavior in a two degree of freedom (DOF) model, focusing on plunge and pitch motions and employing the continuation method (CM) with an adaptive step size control algorithm.

Micro and Nanostructural Diversity of Lizard Osteoderm Capping Tissue in Relation to Mechanical Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that lizard osteoderm capping tissue is a hyper‐mineralized hydroxyapatite layer consistently covering the superficial osteoderm surface in those species studied here, yet it varies greatly in morphology, nanostructure, and mechanical performance across species.

The crafts and craftsmen in Cyprus from the thirteenth to fifteenth centuries

open access: yesАнтичная древность и средние века, 2018
The main task of this work is to study a history of the craft, to identify the craft professions, the types of professional associations of craftsmen and handicraft production, the continuity and discontinuity of Byzantine and Western European forms of ...

Deterministic hBN Bubbles as a Versatile Platform for Studies on Single‐Photon Emitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐photon emitters (SPEs) in hBN are promising for quantum technologies; however, in exfoliated samples their activation is required, limiting reproducibility of previous studies. This work introduces a large‐area MOVPE‐grown hBN platform that hosts SPEs without prior activation.

Trap‐Assisted Transport and Neuromorphic Plasticity in Lead‐Free 2D Perovskites PEA2SnI4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An artificial retina built from lead‐free layered perovskite (PEA)2SnI4 converts light input into a persistent photocurrent and sums successive flashes over time. Micro/nanocrystals integrated on electrodes act as synapse‐like pixels that perform temporal integration directly in hardware. This in‐sensor preprocessing merges detection and computation on

A molecular dynamics/extended finite element method for dynamic crack propagation

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2008
A multiscale method is presented which couples a molecular dynamics approach for describing fracture at the crack tip with an extended finite element method for discretizing the remainder of the domain.
