Well-posedness of the linearized problem for contact MHD discontinuities

open access: yes, 2014
We study the free boundary problem for contact discontinuities in ideal compressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). They are characteristic discontinuities with no flow across the discontinuity for which the pressure, the magnetic field and the velocity are

Implementation of Drug‐Induced Rhabdomyolysis and Acute Kidney Injury in Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A modular Muscle–Kidney proximal tubule‐on‐a‐chip integrates 3D skeletal muscle and renal proximal tubule tissues to model drug‐induced rhabdomyolysis and acute kidney injury. The coculture system enables dynamic tissue interaction, functional contraction monitoring, and quantification of nephrotoxicity, revealing drug side effect‐induced metabolic ...

A conformal dispersion relation: correlations from absorption

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We introduce the analog of Kramers-Kronig dispersion relations for correlators of four scalar operators in an arbitrary conformal field theory. The correlator is expressed as an integral over its “absorptive part”, defined as a double discontinuity ...

Golden‐Ratio–Guided Aperiodic Architected Metamaterials with Simultaneously Enhanced Strength and Toughness

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Guided by the golden ratio, a class of aperiodic architected metamaterials is introduced to address the intrinsic trade‐off between strength and toughness. By unifying local geometric heterogeneity with global order, the golden‐ratio‐guided aperiodic architecture promotes spatial delocalization of damage tolerence regions, leading to more tortuous ...

Uniqueness in MHD in divergence form: right nullvectors and well-posedness

open access: yes, 2002
Magnetohydrodynamics in divergence form describes a hyperbolic system of covariant and constraint-free equations. It comprises a linear combination of an algebraic constraint and Faraday's equations.

Exploiting Two‐Photon Lithography, Deposition, and Processing to Realize Complex 3D Magnetic Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two‐photon lithography (TPL) enables 3D magnetic nanostructures with unmatched freedom in geometry and material choice. Advances in voxel control, deposition, and functionalization open pathways to artificial spin ices, racetracks, microrobots, and a number of additional technological applications.

Large Deviations in the Superstable Weakly Imperfect Bose Gas

open access: yes, 2007
The superstable Weakly Imperfect Bose Gas {(WIBG)} was originally derived to solve the inconsistency of the Bogoliubov theory of superfluidity. Its grand-canonical thermodynamics was recently solved but not at {point of} the {(first order)} phase ...

Relaxation results for some free discontinuity problems.

open access: yesJournal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik (Crelles Journal), 1995
In many problems of Mathematical Physics one is concerned with minimum problems for functions defined on function spaces allowing discontinuities. When the discontinuity set is not a priori given the problem is called with ``free discontinuity'' and it would be helpful, for the existence theory and for the study of minimizing sequences, the knowledge ...

Thickness‐Dependent Skyrmion Evolution in Fe3GeTe2 During Magnetization Reversal

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thickness‐ and field‐dependent magnetic domain behavior in 2D van der Waals Fe3GeTe2 is studied using Lorentz TEM and micromagnetic simulations. A patch‐like domain phase evolves from skyrmions during magnetization reversal, and step edges between thickness regions act as pinning sites.
