Waste‐to‐Energy Transformation: Performance and Emission Analysis of Diesel–Plastic–Vegetable Fuel Blends

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
DPV blends produced from waste plastic pyrolysis oil and vegetable oils deliver higher engine efficiency and lower emissions compared to diesel. The optimized B60‐PSO blend improves BTE by 12% and reduces BSFC, CO, NOx, and soot, supporting sustainable, circular‐energy solutions.

Comparison of Manual Versus Robot‐Assisted Piston Prosthesis Placement and Crimping in a 3D‐Printed Temporal Bone Model

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives To reduce operator‐dependent variability and improve surgical precision, robot‐assisted piston prosthesis placement and crimping during otosclerosis surgery may represent a promising approach. However, dedicated microsurgical forceps for this application are not yet available in clinical practice.

Centennial‐scale phosphorus accumulation drives regeneration and internal loading in a boreal lake

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Legacy anthropogenic phosphorus (P) accumulated in sediments drives internal P loading in eutrophic lakes. However, predicting the temporal response of internal P loading to the external loading reduction is difficult due to the complexity of sedimentary P cycling. In this study, we use geochemical profiles obtained from a 180‐cm sediment core

Evolutionarily conserved hydrophobicity and sterics in TM3/TM4 balance Orai1 pore opening

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract The calcium (Ca2+) channel Orai1—the pore‐forming subunit of the Ca2+ release‐activated Ca2+ channel—is opened by its physiological activator, the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)‐resident Ca2+ sensor stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1) upon ER Ca2+ store‐depletion.

Leaf penetration by endophytic Metarhizium brunneum enables infection of Phthorimaea absoluta in tomato mines while inducing the crop defense system

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 7794-7808, August 2026.
Spraying Metarhizium brunneum on tomato plants controls heterogeneous and upcoming Phthorimaea absoluta populations by infecting larvae within mines and priming plant induced systemic defences. Abstract BACKGROUND The endophytic entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium brunneum Petch EAMa 01/58‐Su shows strong potential for managing Phthorimaea absoluta, a ...
