Maximal Discrete Subgroups in Unitary Groups of Operator Algebras [PDF]
. We show that if a group G is mixed-identity-free, then the projective unitary group of its group von Neumann algebra contains a maximal discrete subgroup containing G . The proofs are elementary and make use of free probability theory.

Modular Structure and Inclusions of Twisted Araki-Woods Algebras [PDF]
In the general setting of twisted second quantization (including Bose/Fermi second quantization, S-symmetric Fock spaces, and full Fock spaces from free probability as special cases), von Neumann algebras on twisted Fock spaces are analyzed.

A shuffle algebra point of view on operator-valued probability theory [PDF]
We extend the shuffle algebra perspective on scalar-valued non-commutative probability theory to the operator-valued case. Given an operator-valued probability space with an algebra $B$ acting on it (on the left and on the right), we associate operators ...

Free W*-Dynamical Systems From p-Adic Number Fields and the Euler Totient Function
In this paper, we study relations between free probability on crossed product W * -algebras with a von Neumann algebra over p-adic number fields

Kadison-Kastler stable factors [PDF]
A conjecture of Kadison and Kastler from 1972 asks whether sufficiently close operator algebras in a natural uniform sense must be small unitary perturbations of one another. For n≥3 and a free, ergodic, probability measure-preserving action of SL<sub&

Mixed powerdomains for probability and nondeterminism [PDF]
We consider mixed powerdomains combining ordinary nondeterminism and probabilistic nondeterminism. We characterise them as free algebras for suitable (in)equation-al theories; we establish functional representation theorems; and we show equivalencies ...

Connes' embedding problem and Tsirelson's problem [PDF]
We show that Tsirelson's problem concerning the set of quantum correlations and Connes' embedding problem on finite approximations in von Neumann algebras (known to be equivalent to Kirchberg's QWEP conjecture) are essentially equivalent.

Free wreath product quantum groups : the monoidal category, approximation properties and free probability [PDF]
In this paper, we find the fusion rules for the free wreath product quantum groups $\mathbb{G}\wr_*S_N^+$ for all compact matrix quantum groups of Kac type $\mathbb{G}$ and $N\ge4$.

Spacetime-Free Approach to Quantum Theory and Effective Spacetime Structure [PDF]
Motivated by hints of the effective emergent nature of spacetime structure, we formulate a spacetime-free algebraic framework for quantum theory, in which no a priori background geometric structure is required.

From Operator Algebras to Complexity Theory and Back
Quantum mechanics and the theory of operator algebras have been intertwined since their origin. In the 1930s [20] vonNeumann laid the foundations for the theory of (what are now known as) von Neumann algebras with the explicit goal of establishing ...
