128 Gbit/s Free-Space Laser Transmission Performance in a Simulated Atmosphere Channel With Adjusted Turbulence

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A 128 Gbit/s free-space laser link demonstration has been presented. We use a simulated atmosphere system with a tunable 1 km equivalent weak turbulence channel. Eye diagrams and constellation diagrams were observed.

Modelization and Characterization of a CMOS Camera as an Optical Real-Time Oscilloscope

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) camera sensors are embedded in many consumer electronics products: thanks to the Rolling Shutter (RS) readout mode, they can detect a time-varying light intensity, which is the key to realize Optical Camera ...

Long-Distance Quantum Communication with Entangled Photons using Satellites

open access: yes, 2003
The use of satellites to distribute entangled photon pairs (and single photons) provides a unique solution for long-distance quantum communication networks. This overcomes the principle limitations of Earth-bound technology, i.e. the narrow range of some

Free Space Optical Communications: An Overview

open access: yesEuropean Scientific Journal, ESJ, 2016
Bridging the so-called “last mile” in communication networks has revived keen interest in free-Space Optics (FSO), also known as fiber-free or fiberless optics, which is a technology that transports data via laser technology. It is a line-of-sight technology that currently enables optical transmission up to 2.5 Gbps of data, voice and video through the

Free space optical communication based on a multi-wavelength optical phased array using Fresnel reflection

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
We report a coherent laser transmitter for free space optical communications based on multiwavelength coherent beam combining. We performed 5.6 Gbps free-space optical communications using a two-element optical phased array with three wavelengths ...

Experimental demonstration of an indoor visible light positioning system using RGB LEDs for multi‐cell networks

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering
A visible light positioning (VLP) system for multi‐cell networks based on multi‐colour LED that combines frequency division multiplexing with the received signal strength and a trilateration method is proposed. First, it employs experimental measurements
