The explicit freedoms in our model democracy
Liberty isn't like a tap; it isn't something that can be turned on and off at will. Much the same can be said for freedom of speech, including the freedom of the media, and the freedom of citizens to use the media to express their views.

The magnetic monopole and the separation between fast and slow magnetic degrees of freedom [PDF]
The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation that describes the dynamics of a macroscopic magnetic moment finds its limit of validity at very short times. The reason for this limit is well understood in terms of separation of the characteristic time scales between slow degrees of freedom (the magnetization) and fast degrees of freedom.

Quantum statistical modified entropic gravity as a theoretical basis for MOND [PDF]
Considering the quantum statistics of the degrees of freedom on the holographic screen it is shown that the ratio of the number of excited bulk degrees of freedom to the number of excited surface degrees of freedom, is given by the MOND interpolating function {\mu}.

Degrees of freedom in lasso problems [PDF]
We derive the degrees of freedom of the lasso fit, placing no assumptions on the predictor matrix $X$. Like the well-known result of Zou, Hastie and Tibshirani [Ann. Statist. 35 (2007) 2173-2192], which gives the degrees of freedom of the lasso fit when $X$ has full column rank, we express our result in terms of the active set of a lasso solution.

On the other hand, many restraints have been imposed on the media under the guise of safeguarding national security. The author argues that the shift from government to governance is
