Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.

Telling stories that nobody wants to hear

open access: yesPacific Journalism Review, 2010
Australian director Robert Connolly’s aspiration for his film Balibo—and the challenge of bringing it to a wider audience—was similar. As was his take on our propensity for not wanting to know.

The intrinsic degree of freedom for quasiparticle in thermodynamics with medium effects [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
The thermodynamics with medium effects expressed by the temperature- and density-dependent effective mass of quasiparticle is studied. Series difficulties and many wrangles in references due to the extraordinary parameter dependence are addressed. A new independent intrinsic degree of freedom of quasiparticle $m^*$ in the equation of reversible process

Scaling Up Synthetic Cell Production Using Robotics and Machine Learning Toward Therapeutic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Synthetic cells (SCs) hold great promise for biomedical applications, but manual production limits scalability. This study presents an automated method for large‐scale SC synthesis, integrating robotic liquid handling and machine learning‐driven high‐throughput characterization.
