The Analysis of Urban Planning Aspects and Development of Residential Real Estate in Tallinn, Estonia

open access: yesBaltic Journal of Real Estate Economics and Construction Management, 2020
At the present time, the world’s population is rapidly increasing, and the existing resources, which are limited, are being significantly consumed. Due to this fact, in order to use these resources more efficiently, the concept of planning day by day ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Freelancer-kirjoittajan työnkulku eri tekstilajien rinnakkain kirjoittamisessa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Opinnäytetyössä tutkitaan rinnakkain kirjoittamisen merkitystä freelancer-kirjoittajan työnkulkuun. Lähtökohtana aiheeseen toimivat omakohtaiset kokemukset kahden lopputyökäsikirjoituksen kirjoitusprosessista.

Palate herpes simplex virus infection

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2020
A 50-year-old man came to our private practice, for palate pain and difficulty swallowing. The medical history reported gastro esophageal reflux, otherwise the patient was in good health.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
