Modern cognates show that the metrical patterns of loans can differ although the Germanic words remain constant: loan words Dutch kolónie, English cólony, German Koloníe compared with Germanic words Dutch wéduwe, English wídow, German Wítwe.

ABSTRACT As Australia's wool industry produced vast amounts of fine fleece from the nineteenth century, the wool processing and clothes manufacturing industries generated waste – products like cuttings, combings, fettlings and flock.
