A Digital Frequency-Locked Loop System for Capacitance Measurement

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2013
Similar to phase-locked loops, frequency-locked loops (FLLs) are useful in many applications involving waveform synchronization or synthesis. Simple logic circuit-based relaxation oscillators convert capacitance to frequency, which is a characteristic inverse relationship between output frequency and input capacitance.

Period Jitter of Frequency-Locked Loops

IEEE Transactions on Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems, 2015
This paper presents a spectral analysis of period jitter of frequency-locked loops (FLLs). It is shown that the period jitter of the output clock of the FLL due to stationary noise sources is cyclostationary. It is further shown that the FLL behaves as a time variant loop and there is translation of jitter frequency at the output.

Improving the Design of Frequency Lock Loops for GNSS Receivers

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2012
An analysis of the design and performance of the discrete-update GNSS frequency lock loop (FLL) is presented. Expressions for the design and the steady-state performance of one first-order and two second-order FLL loop filters are developed. Transient performance of the FLL in the presence of thermal noise is examined and the relative performance of ...

A Zero-Tracking SOGI-Based Frequency-Locked Loop

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2022
This paper proposes a zero-tracking second-order generalized integrator-based frequency-locked loop (ZT-SOGI-FLL) with better dynamics and stability than conventional SOGI-FLL. Unlike the internal model principle, the ZT-SOGI-FLL reconstructs the input signal under frequency deviation by tracking the zeros.

Interference in Frequency-Locked Doppler Tracking Loops

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1984
The effects of interference on frequency-locked Doppler tracking loops are investigated. Conditions for jump from locking on the desired signal to locking on the interfering signal are established. Parasitic frequency modulation of the desired signal results when the other signal interferes with it.

Frequency measurement using a frequency locked loop

2011 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2011
A phase locked loop method is proposed for fast estimation of utility grid frequency, for control and protection purposes in grid-connected power converters. Using a second order generalized integrator (SOGI) and a ‘novel’ frequency locked loop (nFLL), which makes the SOGI frequency adaptive, the proposed SOGI-nFLL detects small and large step changes ...

Distributed Frequency-Locked Loops for Wireless Networks

2008 IEEE 10th International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications, 2008
The establishment of a common frequency refer- ence in a distributed wireless network is a critical factor in enabling cooperative communication strategies. In this paper we employ distributed locked loops to entrain the frequencies of autonomous nodes with wireless communication capabilities.

Cooperative Navigation with the Vector Delay/Frequency Lock Loop

ION GNSS+, The International Technical Meeting of the Satellite Division of The Institute of Navigation, 2020
This paper aims to improve GNSS signal processing for collaborating receivers through the development of a Cooperative Vector Delay/Frequency Lock Loop (CVDFLL), a variant of the conventional Vector Delay/Frequency Lock Loop (VDFLL) utilized in standalone receivers. The VDFLL enhances signal processing by taking advantage of spatial correlation between

Frequency-Locked Loops in Electrical Power and Energy Systems: Equivalent or Different to Phase-Locked Loops?

IEEE Industrial Electronics Magazine, 2021
In the electrical power and energy (EPE) area, the traditional concept in designing the synchronization system of power converters is using the phase-locked loop (PLL) concept. An alternative way is using the frequency-locked loop (FLL) concept, which is also known as the adaptive notch filter, adaptive noise cancelation technique, gradient descent ...

A Frequency-Locked-Loop Filter for Biased Multi-Sinusoidal Estimation

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2014
In this paper, an adaptive filter, based on a third-order generalized integrator, is proposed to estimate all the parameters of a biased sinusoid. The averaging theory is used to prove that the filter identifies the unknown frequency of the signal, in the case of a pure biased sinusoid in input.
