An Improved Adaptive Received Beamforming for Nested Frequency Offset and Nested Array FDA-MIMO Radar

open access: yesSensors, 2018
For the conventional FDA-MIMO (frequency diversity array multiple-input-multiple-output) Radar with uniform frequency offset and uniform linear array, the DOFs (degrees of freedom) of the adaptive beamformer are limited by the number of elements.

Transmit–Receive Sparse Synthesis of Linear Frequency Diverse Array in Range-Angle Space Using Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Unlike conventional phased array (PA), frequency diversity array (FDA) can perform the beampattern synthesis not only in an angle dimension but also in a range dimension by introducing an additional frequency offset (FO) across the array aperture, thus ...

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Frequency-Diverse Additive Processing for Active Incoherent Millimeter-Wave Imaging

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation
We present an approach for improving spatial frequency sampling in active incoherent millimeter-wave (AIM) imaging systems using frequency diversity. AIM imaging relies on active transmission of spatio-temporally incoherent signals to illuminate a scene,

Successive ESPRIT Algorithm for Joint DOA-Range-Polarization Estimation With Polarization Sensitive FDA-MIMO Radar

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Polarization sensitive frequency and frequency diversity array (FDA)-MIMO (PSFDA-MIMO) hybrid radar is an emerging technology. The existing algorithms for parameter estimation with PSFDA-MIMO radar need multiple-dimensional searches, whose computational ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A slot antenna array with low mutual coupling for use on small mobile terminals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In order to take full advantage of the benefits to be obtained by using MIMO techniques for mobile communications, it is necessary to use an antenna array which is both compact and also has low mutual coupling between ports.

Design of high frequency ultrasonic array transducers for medical imaging

open access: yes, 2011
Ultrasonic transducers have been widely used in the medical applications. High frequency array transducers have recently attracted many research interests, since it provides not only the electronic beamforming but also the very fine image resolution. The

Cataloging Human PRDM9 Allelic Variation Using Long-Read Sequencing Reveals PRDM9 Population Specificity and Two Distinct Groupings of Related Alleles

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
The PRDM9 protein determines sites of meiotic recombination in humans by directing meiotic DNA double-strand breaks to specific loci. Targeting specificity is encoded by a long array of C2H2 zinc fingers that bind to DNA.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.
