Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Unraveling cardiac arrhythmia frequency: comparative analysis using time and frequency domain algorithms

open access: yesFrontiers in Signal Processing
During cardiac arrhythmia, the heart frequency is an important physiological parameter that can be identified by analyzing electrocardiogram (ECG) signals.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Analysis of Cavitation-induced Vibration Characteristics of a Vortex Pump Based on Adaptive Optimal Kernel Time-frequency Representation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Cavitation-induced vibration presents a significant challenge in vortex pumps, leading to potential damage to hydraulic components and adverse effects on pump performance. This study aims to investigate the long-term implications of such phenomena.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Analysis of the impact of leaks and valve maneuvers on pressure transient data in water distribution networks [PDF]

open access: yesRBRH
Swift detection and repair of leaks in water distribution networks are essential to ensure the operational efficiency of the system. It’s not viable, both financially and technically, to scour the entire extension of the system to look for leaks ...
