SINGLE FILTER FREQUENCY-RESPONSE MASKING FIR FILTERS
Journal of Circuits, Systems and Computers, 2003In this work filter structures that decrease the required number of multipliers and adders for implementation of linear-phase FIR filters using frequency-response masking techniques are introduced. The basic idea of the proposed structures is that identical subfilters are used.

The author considers the transformation of bilinear time-frequency distributions for the case of a linear time-variant transformation of the signal. The conditions for the output to be representable, that is, for a signal to exist which gives the output distribution, are derived and related to the general question of time-frequency filtering. >

The various techniques available for extending the upper-frequency range of active filters are reviewed with particular attention to a promising active-R configuration. The efficacy of two correction methods for this circuit are examined and the special problems encountered in the higher-frequency range described.

In this chapter, we continue the discussion of joint time-frequency energy representations for speech signals. Here we shall make stronger assumptions about the form of the signals. We will introduce a particular model of the time-varying vocal tract, and define its ‘transfer function’, H(t,ω).

Adaptive frequency sampling filters
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, 1980We present two new structures for adaptive filters based on the idea of frequency sampling filters and gradient based estimation algorithms. These filters have a finite impulse response (FIR) and can be thought of as attempting to approximate a desired frequency response at given points on the unit circle. The filters operate in real time with no batch

A certain number of scanned lines ( line images ) in a real-life image may display sinusoidal intensity profiles, but not all line images along the x or y axis are likely to contain sinusoidal or periodic intensity variations. Despite the nonperiodic nature of line images, and hence the whole image frame, the frequency spectrum of an image or an ...

Variable frequency acoustic filter
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 19801. In a hydroacoustic filter and electrolytic detector system of the charer described, means for providing a housing for a unitary assembly of an electrolytic detector and a hydro-acoustic filter circuit of selectable frequency attenuation characteristic to provide a plurality of band pass ranges for said system, which comprises an electrolytic ...

Adaptive frequency selective filters
Proceedings of 27th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2002The theory and performance of adaptive frequency selective filters is examined. The frequency sampling filter is a realization of a FIR filter as the cascade of an all-zero FIR filter with a bank of IIR digital resonators. The result of such a realization is that each coefficient can be directly identified with an amplitude of the transfer function at ...

Iterated Frequency Filtering Preconditioners
2002For a symmetric and positive definite (SPD) matrix arising from the discretization of a partial differential equation with finite differences or finite elements on a structured grid in dimension d (d ≥ 3), we propose a SPD block ILU preconditioner whose factorized form requires a smaller amount of memory than the original matrix.

Frequency-Response Masking Filters
2020In this chapter, we focus on filters that are required to have very small transition bandwidth. The filter order, as well as the number of nontrivial coefficients of a direct form FIR filter, is inversely proportional to the transition bandwidth. Therefore, FIR filters with small transition bandwidth suffer from high arithmetic complexity due to the ...
