Optimal One-Coincidence Sequence Sets with a Large Alphabet and Prime Length

open access: yesMathematics
The performance of a frequency-hopping spread-spectrum system is mainly dependent on the mathematical properties of its hopping sequences, which are designed to minimize interference between different users. The one-coincidence sequence frequency-hopping

Blood RNA Biomarker Signatures for Early Diagnosis and Prognosis in Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke: The IBIS‐CT1 Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the expression of nine blood RNA biomarkers in a clinical trial based on genes previously identified in an experimental monkey model of stroke for diagnosis feasibility and prognostication. Methods IBIS‐CT1 was a prospective longitudinal study enrolling patients with ischemic stroke (IS) or intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Enhanced Ultrasound Transmission Through Aberration Layers Using Space‐Coiling Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing ultrasound transmission through an aberration layer exhibiting mismatched impedance with the surrounding medium possesses great implications in imaging and treatment. In this study, we show that a space‐coiling acoustic metamaterial with judiciously tailored structural profile can help improve impedance matching.

Sets of Wide-Gap Frequency-Hopping Sequence With Optimal Maximum Hamming Correlation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
In application, frequency-hopping (FH) communication system often suffers various interferences, such as single frequency narrow-band interference, partial band blocking interference and tracking interference, and so on. For all that, by using optimal Wide-Gap (WG) FH sequences, FH communication system can significantly improve the anti-interference ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Design of Balanced Wide Gap No-Hit Zone Sequences with Optimal Auto-Correlation

open access: yesMathematics
Frequency-hopping multiple access is widely adopted to blunt narrow-band jamming and limit spectral disclosure in cyber–physical systems, yet its practical resilience depends on three sequence-level properties.

New families of strictly optimal frequency hopping sequence sets

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics of Communications, 2018
Frequency hopping sequences (FHSs) with favorable partial Hamming correlation properties have important applications in many synchronization and multiple-access systems. In this paper, we investigate constructions of FHS sets with optimal partial Hamming correlation. We present several direct constructions for balanced nested cyclic difference packings

Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Slow Frequency-Hopping Multicarrier DS-CDMA for Transmission over Nakagami Multipath Fading Channels

open access: yes, 2001
A novel multiple access scheme based on slow frequency hopping multicarrier direct-sequence code division multiple access (SFH/MC DS-CDMA) is proposed and investigated, which can be rendered compatible with the existing second-generation narrowband CDMA ...
