Performance comparison of frequency-diversity and frequency-hopping spread-spectrum systems

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1997
In the presence of partial-band Gaussian interference the frequency hopping spread spectrum system, without and with optimum diversity, performs worse than a system called frequency diversity spread spectrum. This latter has the advantage of allowing coherent reception with coherent diversity combining.

Compressive Detection of Multiple Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum Signals

2014 Data Compression Conference, 2014
In this paper, a compressive detection approach for detecting the presence of multiple Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) signals is introduced. The large bandwidth produced due to hopping between frequency channels makes interception of FHSS signals challenging.

A diversity scheme for a phase-coherent frequency-hopping spread-spectrum system

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1997
Frequency diversity for a phase-coherent frequency-hopping spread-spectrum system is proposed. The frequency band of the communicator is partitioned into L disjoint subbands on which L replicas of the communicator signal are simultaneously transmitted; each signal replica hops independently in its subband.

Compressive Sampling for Recognition of Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum Signals

2020 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2020
In this paper, a method for recognition of frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) signals from compressive measurements is proposed. Conventionally, the detection method based on energy or signal variance does not represent the signal type. Other energy signals may also be falsely detected as FHSS signals, especially in the case of dynamic spectrum ...

Compressive sensing of frequency-hopping spread spectrum signals

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
In this paper, compressive sensing strategies for interception of Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) signals are introduced. Rapid switching of the carrier among many frequency channels using a pseudorandom sequence (unknown to the eavesdropper) makes FHSS signals dicult to intercept.
