Negative Refraction and Subwavelength Lensing in a Polaritonic Crystal

open access: yes, 2004
We show that a two-dimensional polaritonic crystal, made of metallic rods that support well defined plasmon oscillations, can act in a narrow frequency range as a medium in which a negative refraction and subwavelength lensing can occur.

The time derivative of the kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations in 4U 1636-53 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We analysed all archival RXTE observations of the neutron-star low-mass X-ray binary 4U 1636-53 up to May 2010. In 528 out of 1280 observations we detected kilohertz quasi-periodic oscillations (kHz QPOs), with ~ 65% of these detections corresponding to ...

Observation of Terahertz Radiation via the Two-Color Laser Scheme with Uncommon Frequency Ratios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the widely-studied two-color laser scheme for terahertz (THz) radiation from a gas, the frequency ratio of the two lasers is usually fixed at $\omega_2/\omega_1=$1:2. We investigate THz generation with uncommon frequency ratios.

Attention control comparisons with SLT for people with aphasia following stroke: methodological concerns raised following a systematic review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objective: Attention control comparisons in trials of stroke rehabilitation require care to minimize the risk of comparison choice bias. We compared the similarities and differences in SLT and social support control interventions for people with aphasia.

Electrochemical performance of a thin film type SOFC on a porous microtubular support [PDF]

open access: yes
This report summarizes electrochemical performances of a thin film type SOFC prepared on a porous microtubular support. The sample was prepared via the co-sintering of YSZ electrolyte and NiO-YSZ anode bilayers on a porous microtubular YSZ support, and ...

Dyskalemia : frequency, prognosis, support and iatrogenesisDyskalemia : frequency, prognosis, support and iatrogenesis

open access: yes, 2020
Contexte.

Radio Frequency Identification in Supporting Traffic Safety

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Civil Engineering, 2017
Due to the increased demands of traffic safety applicationsmany parameters of the traffic flow have to be measured bydifferent kind of techniques. The sensors of vehicle sensing anddetection are to be inexpensive, currently available and easy todeploy. Therefore, the state-of-the-art safety applications areusually based on mature technologies, such as ...

Frequency Support by BESS – Review and Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2019
Abstract This work reviews and analyzes the feasibility of frequency support by Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). If power generation and load demand are unbalanced, it would cause serious problems on frequency stability. BESS is an effective method to balance power generation and load demand since it has fast response characteristics.
