A Bipolar MMIC Frequency Tripler

2008 7th International Caribbean Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems, 2008
A concept for an MMIC frequency tripler using SiGe HBT's is proposed and verified in this paper. The main circuit of this tripler consists of a differential-pair frequency doubler followed by a single-balanced mixer that multiplies the doubler output with the fundamental frequency input to generate the triple-frequency output. The single-balanced mixer

An SCR frequency tripler

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1967
The circuit and the operation of an SCR frequency tripler are described. The modes of operation are discussed and the circuit behavior is analyzed for different output conditions. An approximate equivalent circuit is used to describe the load conditions.

Mixer-based injection-locked frequency tripler

2017 IEEE International Symposium on Radio-Frequency Integration Technology (RFIT), 2017
An injection-locked frequency tripler with a push-push frequency doubler and a mixer core is demonstrated. The core power consumption of this design takes 5.34 mW. The locking range is from 13.5 GHz to 20.8 GHz. If concerning about the output power flatness, the acceptable frequency range is from 15.9 GHz to 17.1 GHz. The output power is −5 dBm.

Design of submillimeter wave frequency tripler

2009 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference, 2009
The design and analysis of submillimeter wave balanced frequency tripler using commercially available DBES105a GaAs schottky barrier diodes is reported in this paper. The circuit design, simulation and optimization of the tripler are carried out by using HFSS and ADS. The tripler reported here adopted microstrip line as the transmission line.

Synthesis of active microwave frequency triplers

Proceedings of the 43rd IEEE Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat.No.CH37144), 2002
After a brief discussion of active multiplier realizations, the authors focus on the synthesis of bipolar microwave frequency doublers in several topologies. The synthesis is outlined in four fundamental steps which encompass embedding network synthesis, device selection, bias optimization, and drive power determination.

An analysis of the frequency tripler

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1966
This paper deals with an analysis of the fundamental circuit of a frequency tripler, constructed with saturable reactors. In the analysis, the equation of the circuit is directly obtained by using the approximate expression of the characteristics of the reactor cores.

Analysis of symmetric-varactor-frequency triplers

1993 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2002
A simple analytical model for varactors that have a symmetric capacitance-voltage characteristic is introduced. This empirical but general model can be used to represent the reactance nonlinearity of quantum-barrier varactors, symmetric high-electron-mobility varactors, and back-to-back barrier-n-n/sup +/ diodes.

A SiGe Distributed Millimeter-Wave Frequency Tripler

IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, 2014
A distributed differential frequency tripler covering the 30-90 GHz range is implemented in IBM 0.13-μm SiGe technology. The distributed design utilizes a right-handed input and a left-handed output synthesized transmission lines to overcome the challenging fundamental rejection.

The frequency tripler

Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1953
The most common form of static frequency tripler consists of a 3-phase transformer operated at a fairly high flux density, with an open-delta secondary connected to the triple-frequency load. The nonlinear property of the B/H characteristic of the core material is used to obtain the frequency conversion, and the unwanted fundamental component is ...

Design of millimeter-wave CMOS frequency tripler

2011 International SoC Design Conference, 2011
The design of millimeter-wave frequency triplers using sub-harmonic mixing and injection-locking is discussed. The design goals are aimed at low power consumption, high harmonic rejection, and bandwidth extension. Several circuit design techniques will be reviewed for consideration of these goals.
