Review on the layered Fresnel zone plate lens antenna

open access: closedIEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium. 1999 Digest. Held in conjunction with: USNC/URSI National Radio Science Meeting (Cat. No.99CH37010), 2003
The full-wave spectral domain analysis is a powerful theoretical tool for the study of layered Fresnel zone plate (FZP) structures, including multilayer plates and/or substrates. The double-layer FZP lens is a reasonable scheme to replace the FZP reflector in applications where a flat antenna profile is required; and a four-layer FZP lens is more ...

Analysis of antenna characteristics in a Fresnel zone

open access: closed2008 13th International Seminar/Workshop on Direct and Inverse Problems of Electromagnetic and Acoustic Wave Theory, 2008
The method of calculating measurement error of directivity characteristics for antenna placed in a Fresnel zone is presented. The method of account is based on substitution of a plane area field with rays converging to an observation point by a no plane area field with parallel rays.

Offset Fresnel zone plate antennas

International Journal of Satellite Communications, 1994
AbstractThe theory of offset Fresnel zone plate antennas is presented. Explicit formulae for the design of the zone boundaries for the offset Fresnel zone plate are given. Theorectical equations and numerical results for the far‐field analysis are presented.

A cylindrical Fresnel zone antenna

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1996
A cylindrical Fresnel zone antenna as a candidate for a base station in wireless indoor LAN systems is described. An arbitrary angle-tilted fan beam in azimuth can be achieved by moving the position of the strip dipole feed at the cylinder center.

The Bandwidth of Fresnel-Zone Plate Antennas

Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, 1997
Theoretical expressions are presented for the illumination and phase efficiency of three types of Fresnel-zone plate antennas. Using these formulas, the bandwidths of the antennas will be analyzed and compared. Measured data are given to validate the theoretical results.

Fresnel Zone Plate Antenna

IETE Journal of Research, 1968
ABSTRACTThe paper describes the design of a Fresnel zone plate suitable for use as an antenna in the centimetric or lower wavelength range. It has been shown that such antennas can be fabricated by using either metal or dielectric rings. Its properties have been analysed by employing the simple methods of electromagnetic diffraction.

Single zone Fresnel dielectric plate antenna

2019 44th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2019
It is shown that simple dielectric disk with proper chosen refractive index, radius and thickness operate as lens and can increase for more than 10 dB directivity of the antenna couple detectors placed at the focal plane.

Fresnel zone plate antenna with hexagonal‐cut zones

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2008
AbstractA novel Fresnel zone plate antenna (FZPA) with hexagonal‐cut zones is presented. This new structure was simulated at 30 GHz using a finite‐difference time‐domain software to study its gain and sidelobe levels in relation to the standard circular FZPA and the hexagonal FZPA. Several prototypes were built and tested to verify the simulations.

Millimeter-wave Fresnel zone planar lens and antenna

Proceedings of 1995 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium, 2002
A new variety of millimeter-wave Fresnel zone planar lens with enhanced focusing quality is described. Each full-wave zone is divided into four quarter-wave subzones covered by equal in thickness dielectric rings having different permittivities. More precise expression for the lens thickness is deduced.

Other Fresnel Zone Antennas

2002
In the preceding chapters, theoretical investigations and experiments on a number of Fresnel zone antennas are presented. This chapter is intended to introduce a wider range of Fresnel zone antennas. Section 7.1 presents a theory regarding the possibility of producing single printed Fresnel lens that doubles the efficiency of the simple Fresnel lens ...
