Framed as a letter to Sigmund Freud, this text weaves precariously between psychoanalytic interpretations of mourning and laments sung during an epidemic of an unknown disease in the Delta Amacuro rain forest of Venezuela in 2008.

Abstract Parental reflective functioning (PRF), a critical construct in the field of infant mental health, has been under investigated in non‐WEIRD countries, where the majority of the world's infants are born. Studies from WEIRD contexts have demonstrated a relationship between socio‐demographic and parental reflective functioning scores.

The neuroscience of language processing in the human brain has a long history. Strings of letters that form meaningful words trigger lexical and semantic processing, which in turn lead to conscious awareness of what the words mean.

Two variable Freud orthogonal polynomials and matrix Painlevé-type difference equations [PDF]
We study bivariate orthogonal polynomials associated with Freud weight functions depending on real parameters. We analyze relations between the matrix coefficients of the three term relations for the orthonormal polynomials as well as the coefficients of the structure relations satisfied by these bivariate semiclassical orthogonal polynomials, also a ...

Empathy, caring and compassion: Toward a Freudian critique of nursing work
Abstract The aim of this paper is to summarize key psychoanalytic concepts first developed by Sigmund Freud and apply them to a critical exploration of three terms that are central to nursing's self‐image—empathy, caring, and compassion. Looking to Menzies‐Lyth's work, I suggest that the nurse's strong identification as a carer can be understood as a ...

Asymptotic Properties of Some Freud Polynomials [PDF]
We study the asymptotic properties of monic orthogonal polynomials (OPs) with respect to some Freud weights when the degree of the polynomial tends to infinity, including the asymptotics of the recurrence coefficients, the nontrivial leading coefficients of the monic OPs, the associated Hankel determinants and the squares of $L^2$-norm of the monic OPs.

Since the declaration of the COVID‐19 pandemic in Vienna, basal cell carcinoma surgeries decreased by 32.5%, with numbers still not reaching pre‐pandemic levels in 2022. Patients who have undergone surgery since 2020 tend to be older and present with more comorbidities. However, the complexity of surgeries has remained unchanged.
