Thermodynamic quantities of adsorption described by Freundlich isotherm
Russian Chemical Bulletin, 1990Thermodynamic analysis of the Freundlich adsorption isotherm was performed. Equations describing the thermodynamic characteristics of adsorption as a function of the adsorbed quantity are presented, and relationships between the excess differential and average molar thermodynamic adsorption quantities were obtained.

Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. Evolution of a Sleeping Beauty: The Freundlich Isotherm
Langmuir, 2023The name of Herbert Freundlich is commonly associated with a power relationship for adsorbed amount of a substance (Cads) against the concentration in solution (Csln), such that Cads = KCslnn; this isotherm (together with the Langmuir isotherm) is considered to be the model of choice for correlating the experimental adsorption data of micropollutants ...

Freundlich's adsorption isotherm
Surface Science, 1973Abstract We present a brief derivation of Freundlich's adsorption isotherm using straightforeward methods of statistical mechanics. The assumption that the adsorbed atoms move in Morse potential wells of different depths leads to the observed compensation effect in the energy dependence of the occupation probability of surface sites, essential for ...

Adsorption of Local Anesthetics on Activated Carbon: Freundlich Adsorption Isotherms
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1990We have shown that adsorbability of local anesthetics onto activated carbon, expressed by the partition coefficients at infinite dilution, correlated well with the pharmacological activity. However, there is no parameter that can singly express the tendency to be adsorbed.

Characterization of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers with the Langmuir−Freundlich Isotherm
Analytical Chemistry, 2001The majority of binding models that have been applied to molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have been homogeneous models. MIPs, on the other hand, are heterogeneous materials containing binding sites with a wide array of binding affinities and selectivities.

Statistical Mechanical Study on the Freundlich Isotherm Equation
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1998The Freundlich isotherm equation, in the form of theta = KP1/n, was derived by treating the model with the ensemble theory in statistical mechanics as a theoretical tool, the model being set up for the adsorption system with emphasis on two factors, namely the lateral interaction between the adsorbed molecules and the energetic surface heterogeneity ...

Sorption of norfloxacin in soils: Analytical method, kinetics and Freundlich isotherms
Chemosphere, 2015Fluoroquinolones are potent antibacterial agents that are active against a wide range of pathogenic organisms and are widely used in veterinary medicine. Fluoroquinolones and their metabolites may reach the soil through animal excreta or manure and may contaminate water and soils.

Predicting Freundlich adsorption isotherm of atrazine on Japanese soils
Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, 2001Abstract It was possible to predict the amounts of atrazine adsorption on Japanese soils by deriving predicting equations from the value of the initial concentration of atrazine applied to the soils containing less than 70 g kg-1 carbon. The equations predicted the values of Freundlich isotherm coefficients, log K F and 1/n.

Derivation of the Freundlich Adsorption Isotherm from Kinetics
Journal of Chemical Education, 2009The Freundlich adsorption isotherm is a useful description of adsorption phenomena. It is frequently presented as an empirical equation with little theoretical basis. In fact, a variety of derivations exist. Here a new derivation is presented using the concepts of fractal reaction kinetics. This derivation provides an alternative basis for interpreting

Pressure Swing Adsorption for a System with a Freundlich Isotherm
Separation Science and Technology, 1987An analytical expression is obtained for the equilibrium relationship between the enrichment factor of the product stream and the ratio of the pressure in the feed stream to that in the product stream for a pressure-swing-adsorption system with a Freundlich isotherm.
