Sorption of norfloxacin in soils: Analytical method, kinetics and Freundlich isotherms

Chemosphere, 2015
Fluoroquinolones are potent antibacterial agents that are active against a wide range of pathogenic organisms and are widely used in veterinary medicine. Fluoroquinolones and their metabolites may reach the soil through animal excreta or manure and may contaminate water and soils.

Predicting Freundlich adsorption isotherm of atrazine on Japanese soils

Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, 2001
Abstract It was possible to predict the amounts of atrazine adsorption on Japanese soils by deriving predicting equations from the value of the initial concentration of atrazine applied to the soils containing less than 70 g kg-1 carbon. The equations predicted the values of Freundlich isotherm coefficients, log K F and 1/n.

Derivation of the Freundlich Adsorption Isotherm from Kinetics

Journal of Chemical Education, 2009
The Freundlich adsorption isotherm is a useful description of adsorption phenomena. It is frequently presented as an empirical equation with little theoretical basis. In fact, a variety of derivations exist. Here a new derivation is presented using the concepts of fractal reaction kinetics. This derivation provides an alternative basis for interpreting

Pressure Swing Adsorption for a System with a Freundlich Isotherm

Separation Science and Technology, 1987
An analytical expression is obtained for the equilibrium relationship between the enrichment factor of the product stream and the ratio of the pressure in the feed stream to that in the product stream for a pressure-swing-adsorption system with a Freundlich isotherm.

ON THE BASIS FOR THE FREUNDLICH ADSORPTION ISOTHERM

Chemical Engineering Communications, 1990
Abstract The theoretical underpinnings of the Freundlich adsorption isotherm, an often useful empiricism, are discussed. It is shown that the Freundlich expression does not originate from a true exponential distribution of energies of adsorption for the adsorption sites.

A modified Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm model for simulating pH-dependent adsorption effects

Journal of Contaminant Hydrology, 2012
Analytical isotherm equations such as Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms are widely used for modeling adsorption data. However, these isotherms are primarily useful for simulating data collected at a fixed pH value and cannot be easily adapted to simulate pH-dependent adsorption effects. Therefore, most adsorption studies currently use numerical surface-

Modeling adsorption in multicomponent systems using a Freundlich-type isotherm

Journal of Contaminant Hydrology, 1993
Abstract The suitability of a Freundlich-type isotherm, the Sheindorf-Rebuhn-Sheintuch (SRS) equation, to represent the competitive adsorption of Sr, Cs and Co in Ca-montmorillonite suspensions was investigated. Experimental adsorption data were obtained for systems containing these cations as single-component, binary and ternary mixtures.

Prediction of individual Freundlich isotherms from binary and ternary phenolic compounds mixtures

Chemosphere, 2008
Method for simultaneous determination of individual component's adsorption equilibrium parameters for binary and ternary phenolic compounds mixtures was investigated in this research. The Freundlich equilibrium parameters of binary and ternary component of phenolic compounds were determined from one fixed composition of phenolic wastewater.

D-optimal experimental designs for Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherms

Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems, 2009
In this paper, D-optimal experimental designs are derived for three common adsorption isotherm models: the 2-parameter Freundlich, the 2-parameter Langmuir, and the 3-parameter Langmuir. For each of these liquid-solid adsorption models, the D-optimal design equations are derived from the information matrix and then solved numerically to determine the ...

THE USE OF THE FREUNDLICH ISOTHERM FOR SOIL PHOSPHATE SORPTION DATA

Journal of Soil Science, 1975
Summary Phosphate sorption data for twenty‐nine soils were found to fit the Freundlich adsorption isotherm better if a measure of native labile P was first added to the sorption data, and this sum plotted against intensity. The exponent from the isotherm thus obtained was closely related to exchangeable A1 (in acid soils) and ...
